Sprint reached out and tells us that the link in the OP is outdated and this one https://community.sprint.com/t5/E...-p/1033393 is the newer, corrected one.
I didn't want to edit the OP but if the OP wanted to edit to have this link.. that would be great.

Note: Sprint stated they were in the process of of migrating all SERO accounts to SWAC, so you can either initiate the move yourself if you wish, or wait until they eventually get to your account.

Here is the dedicated customer service email. [email protected]
When I last used it, they took a full day to reply, but did so personably and thoroughly.

I would probably go with the regular iPhone 11. Sprint has already told me when I purchase/change my current phone with them, I'll be forced out of SERO and have to choose a new plan. I was researching other providers when I decided to search SERO back on SD to see if any new info came up. I'm glad I did!
Doesn't sound right. The Iphone 11 works on SERO. You could in theory just use the same plan. You should probably consider the upgrade though (you can read through the thread, there's upsides and downsides to doing that), and if you must upgrade for some weird reason, go with the SWAC plan listed here. It takes a billing cycle but the online form (there are links to it) works. Remember, the regular customer service have at times been clueless about SERO customers.

That information was received right from the Sprint employee email (which is part of the reason I hadn't upgraded sooner-- I didn't want to be forced into a more expensive bill and I didn't need a new phone yet.) I had written them awhile back about upgrade options. So regardless, I should move to SWAC right now and then work on a possible upgrade....Can SWAC upgrade their phones on the site?

I haven't upgraded phones under SWAC yet, but since we were able to upgrade phones via the website under SERO, I see no reason why we wouldn't under SWAC.

It appears we're still not able to upgrade at third party retailers like Best Buy though.

When I try to upgrade online under SERO, the system forces me to change my plan!

Were you a Sprint employee? Most of us on SERO that are posting here just jumped on during the promotional period.

I've never seen a Sprint employee email but what people are posting here and the links to the Sprint site are generally accurate. You can upgrade your phone with SERO or SWAC and do it through the upgrade function of the site or through telesales. Or keep your current phone. There is no benefit related to the phone you use or renewing the contract, as of now.

It's up to you if you want to switch plans, there isn't a whole lot of difference besides perks, but it's as simple as filling out the online request, picking which of the two plans you want, getting a confirmation (that might not sound like they put you on the right plan but they will), and then you'll get texts inviting you to sign up to the perks, and on your next bill, it will just take effect.

No contract extension, no phone purchase requirement.

Phone promotions will be the same as current under SERO as far as I can tell. You can do it online but it has to be through Sprint.

No, I was not a Sprint employee ever.

I had looked into upgrade my phone before while on the same SERO plan I'm on now, but the site "forces" me to choose a new plan. The employee services email response I received said that when I upgrade next, I will have to choose a new plan and its not an error.

My hubby had been on Sero forever it seems and recently switched to the SWAC plan. We are trying to add a line for me and it hasn't been very easy. Has anyone that converted to SWAC tried and have successfully added a line with the same SWAC plan? How did you do it if so?Will you need an employee # or referral?
There is an option online to add another swac line at the same rates. You don't have to call anyone. My new swac line even came with a basically free s10 0/m for 18 months then a $200 lease buy out.

I actually just did it for the free phone. After getting the new line I then cancelled the line I signed up for with sero converted to swac. I still have a swac account with one line but sprint "thinks" it's a new line and gave me new line promos on it vs upgrade promos. Thanks sprint!

That is correct. Sero can't upgrade or add lines. If you convert your sero to swac(cheaper more features) you can upgrade and add lines.

I've upgraded my phone before on my SERO account, 3 years ago or so.

They eliminated contracts/phone subsidies with SERO within the last year or two, and based on your experience, it sounds like they're eliminating SERO altogether now.

Given all the extra perks for less money ($40 includes Amazon Prime, Hulu, Tidal Hifi, wifi hotspot; only $30 if you don't need Prime and are okay with non-Hifi Tidal), SWAC has been a worthy SERO replacement.

Possibly, but this plan is worth it. I doubt you'll find a better deal for awhile if at all.

I have SWAC & I just helped a friend in your situation convert from SERO to SWAC. She had 2 subsidized iPhone SE's from a couple years ago and wanted to upgrade. She was super paranoid about losing her SERO. I don't know for sure that they would have forced her to change to a regular Sprint plan, but rather than risk it, I gave her SWAC info. Better than fighting to keep SERO. It's basically the same plan, only cheaper & with added perks.

She converted 2 lines to $40 SWAC & leased two iPhone 11's for only $15/month more than SERO. Plus Amazon Prime, Hulu etc is added value.

SERO data is truly high-speed & unlimited, but no hotspot. 50/100gb hotspot on SWAC is worth it to my friend - trade off is occasional deprioritization (rarely happens in my experience). SERO has more domestic data roaming. SWAC has unlimited talk/text & 10GB or unlimited data in Canada & Mexico depending on which level you choose.

The entire process was very quick. She filled out the conversion request on a Thursday and heard back from the conversion team by that night. They converted the plan, but it wasn't effective til the following Tuesday (her billing date). She ordered leased phones on Friday and they arrived on Monday (with upgraded shipping). Plan changed on Tuesday and she activated phones with no issues

When you order the new phones, ignore the message that warns about needing to change your plan upon activation. I saw that mentioned I think on this thread and they were correct. You can still order the phones even with that error message.

Does anyone know where to find the info on the waived upgrade/activation fee? I just converted my account and the representative said SWAC customers are not exempt from paying those fees.

I think if you get a phone through the website, it usually mentions that the fees are waived, but you probably have to upgrade on the site and not by speaking with a representative, though you can probably accomplish it via chat while on the site.

FYI: I've had Sero 500 (no premium) for approx 12 yrs. I had no idea about the change. My Sero plan was automatically converted in Nov on my bill cycle date. I wasn't notified. Just got a text welcoming me to Tidal and asking me start Hulu. I thought I'd been hacked and went to my acct and saw the new plan details... 5 days later I received an email "Stylin, check out your new plan features!"
