Is it true that the newer Dyson aren't built as tough see as the older generations? I have the purple Animal model that I've been using for more than a decade and it's still chunking along fine. However it's getting louder and I'm thinking about getting s newer Dyson.

I am in the same position and been hesitant to update because of some reviews. Wearing noise canceling headphones now when I vacuum, lol.

Have you found a solution? I removed all the trapped hair from the brush bar, cleaned the filter and hosed down the canister bin and the cyclonic part inside it but it's still loud. However, the suction works fine so I keep using it and assume that the loudness is due to its age.

Yep exact same here.. suction is still good..cleaned everything the brush doesn't spin but still very loud.

A vacuum getting louder can often indicate a blockage somewhere. My current vacuum (not a Dyson) has 3 different filter areas, any of which can get partially blocked/clogged. A thorough cleaning a couple few times a year fix it, so now even after about 10 years, runs more or less like new.

Good advice! It's due for a.maintainance cleaning soon. Hopefully that will resolve the loudness issue.

I have a refurbished one over 12 years old and it still works. I just got another refurbished one 1 1/2 yr ago works great. This is a great price imo
