Bob of all Trades(well respected enthusiast) review:

tl;dr

He goes on to say basically its still a great gaming laptop, with a few cons and pros.
One pro being it has great low sounding fans. 48db at max. Something a lot of gaming laptops struggle with.
g-sync is nice to have.
2x8gb ram which is nice, lot of companies are trying to cheap cut with just 1x 16gb stick which results in significantly lower fps. Very important to have 2.

Cons being, small battery, almost 60wh. Many other gaming laptops have small batteries though except a select few. Keyboard takes some time getting used to because there's macro buttons directly to the left of the keyboard which results in him hitting the Lenovo macro instead of ESC key.

Thank you for this!!!!!! was waiting for the 2060 to drop to 1400 again and was pleasantly surprised to see the 2070 hit my price point. Find another laptop with a 2070, 144hz screen, and thunderbolt 3. You wont, because i have been hunting for 4 months. Tax sucks in WA, but that's life.
You linked an article from 2017 talking about an event in 2015... Amongst the first lines, I see something about Microsoft starting the "clicking x to opt in" baloney. Does that make Microsoft a bad company? If that's the case you should use exclusively Linux or OSX.
Hmm better deal than the gs65 2060 for 1400$?
All I know is gs65 is just more battery life, slightly less weight, and harder to access mobo.
While y740 has 2070maxq, stays cooler apparently, and gsync.

gs65 fans are pretty loud gaming, while not loud to annoy me, those around me may think my laptop is preparing to take flight to the benchmark heaven.

I guess it comes down to if you want a laptop with more portability/work/school use (gs65).

or something more focused on gaming stationary, y740. or if you missed the gs65 deal.
And even then, the y740 only has a slightly better gpu being the 2070maxq.

I still think this is a great deal for anyone who missed the gs65 I am referencing. A few cons, but what laptop does not. Check out Bob's review https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qIYRQV7E1P0

Stinks the new 9th gen core i7 is not in these yet, but now available on razer laptops

I thought the same thing, but I just game and games r gpu intensive not CPU. The one in it is just fine for my needs. Dell also has the 9th gen FYI

Lenovo is a bad company, should not buy any products from them. Any company that would pull this deserves to lose all business, and this is par for course for a Chinese company.

Has anyone noticed that previously Lenovo said that the Y740 had either full 2060 or 2070MQ but now in the tech specs section it's either 2060MQ or 2070MQ? What type of BS is that?

It doesn't say MQ by the 2060.

It's in the tech specs section, search for 2060 Max-Q on the page and it will jump to the tech specs section.
