This is correct. Tracfone is only for light users. With Google Hangouts and WiFi, one can still can get a lot done with this plan.

All depends on your usage. personally I use most of my data on wifi so I would rather have 3 GB to use over a year instead of 250 mb a month where I might only use 100 mb one month and the next I need 1 GB for traveling.

Last time I bought, RP basic cost $60 per year.
Oh! You are right! I didn't even know they had an annual plan! I thought you were talking about their monthly basic plan. I've just checked their website. Interesting!

Why does it say $5/mo on the card? Is that some kind of fee in addition to the $49.99?
Because this is a sale price. The normal price will be $60. At least most likely.

It looks like a Sim card preloaded with savings of one year activation. Also 5 dollars a month is on the page image. Am I wrong? Has anyone had success just adding it to an existing TracFone line?

I'm a bit confused about the plans on their website versus these SIM cards. I have a TracFone phone, that's not currently active. Can I use this SIM card to activate it? Thanks in advance for the help.

With Tracfone you can add more data/text/minutes if needed. 1 GB of data cost $10 and often can find promo codes for extra 500 MB of data.
If Tracfone does charge $10 per GB, their $50 per year plan would cost $80 to match Red Pocket's $60 per year plan for those who could use the extra data.

That's why people have choices, if you use a lot of data you need a different option. Many people don't need even 2gb a month. Tracfone isn't for everyone, that's why they also have other companies like Simple Mobile, Straight Talk & Total Wireless - all prepaid plans with different options & prices. Of course you could also use one of the big networks & pay more than $20 a month if that works for you. This works for a lot of people.

Since this is a pre-loaded sim card, how would you add it to an existing line?
I have the same question. Does anyone here know the answer?

I have a question. For the $49.99 Tracfone plan, after you use up the 3GB of LTE, does it then throttle, as in 3G for a whole year? I don't mind having a "free" 3G. Thanks in advance.

Activate the new SIM, then swap out the SIM in your device with the new SIM.

It is cappe data, so after the 3GB used you would need to add more data. Tracfone sell thems for $10 per 1GB

Which is, specifically, why I put the 'for those that could use the extra data' part.
