This is correct. Tracfone is only for light users. With Google Hangouts and WiFi, one can still can get a lot done with this plan.

All depends on your usage. personally I use most of my data on wifi so I would rather have 3 GB to use over a year instead of 250 mb a month where I might only use 100 mb one month and the next I need 1 GB for traveling.

might want to read how Tracfone works - it's pay as you go - if you use it up in a month you buy more, this is for 12 months (light users)

Think of Tracfone as having four buckets
1- talk (minutes)
2- text
3- Data
4- days of service

If talk or text or data run out you cannot use that function until refilled
If the days go down to zero... the SIM de-activates and you had better move fast to re-activate with days by one method or another or you lose the remaining buckets and your phone number.

When they say carrier they mean Verizon or AT&T or T-Mobile.
I do not remember which the Treasure uses. If you ask for the wrong carrier, your screwed.

So is $20/month for unlimited (5GB then throttled) the best deal out there right now? I need to get a couple of plans for my kids as their Sprint free for a yr plans are expiring soon.
$15/month for 3GB on Mint Mobile in 3 month promotion or 12 months prepaid card.
Port their numbers to google voice and link that to whatever number you get from Mint and you can use 3 month promo cards or change mvnos when you feel like it without worrying about screwing around with number ports ever again.

Seems like a good burner phone as well as a way to sign up for those deals that require your number. I'd get this when phones that have dual sims become more popular...

That's a pretty old Tracfone (android 5?), might be time for an upgrade. Searching shows it came in both Verizon & AT&T version, check the model number of phone & search, should be able to get the answer.

Good if you want to keep a number active for a year. Or if you use wifi mostly.

all depends on where you live, in Eastern Oregon I can use either AT&T or Verizon & recently found out T-Mo works here as well.
