This is correct. Tracfone is only for light users. With Google Hangouts and WiFi, one can still can get a lot done with this plan.

All depends on your usage. personally I use most of my data on wifi so I would rather have 3 GB to use over a year instead of 250 mb a month where I might only use 100 mb one month and the next I need 1 GB for traveling.

Freedompop does not use normal technology for voice and text; it is piggybacked on data with the Fpop app. You have no "native" dialing. I have just ported a fpop number to tracfone because of unreliable voce calling using fpop technology.

For a year. Tracfone is for lighter phone users who don't need to purchase extra minutes, texts or data on a frequent basis. These deals work for the people who use them and aren't shitty if unlimited everything isn't needed.

I stocked up on the Tracfone triple sims when they were clearing them out through ebay quite awhile back. I need to extend services for a year and still have plenty of everything else so I may go for the $49.99 deal with the minues/txt/data as a bonus.

I think redpocket 500min/500text/500mb per month for $ 8.25 is better than this plan. You can combine ebay 20% off ( need to request customer service) makes it cheapest in the segment. Great voice quality and data speed.

I contacted Tracfone and they said I can combine this with my existing minutes/texts/data. Here's the transcript:
Chris : How can I help you?
You : I'm looking at the 1 year, 1200 min, 1200 texts, 3GB data plan on eBay that's on sale for $49.99. Can I combine my existing minutes, texts, and data if I buy it?
Chris : Yes, you can. It will be awesome.
You : Great! How do I do the transfer?
Chris : Before I will answer your question, the plan comes with a new phone or just a plan?
You : it's a preloaded SIM card, sold by Tracfone

You can do the transfer yourself through your online account, just takes a few minutes. All you're doing is activating a new sim & keeping your old number, everything on account transfers to new Sim.

Mine always have, I've done BYOP Sim transfers several times recently (2 in April).

TF customer service is not very knowledgeable - you often get different answers.
