I exclusively use it for green smoothies and it's great for that. I bought it because I live in a small studio apartment where counter space is sparse and I'm single so only need to make a single serving at a time. It's basically a sexier version of the Bullet or Ninja. Prob not a good option if you use it for actual cooking since it doesn't hold a lot of liquid (but capable if you can deal with this limitation).
If you've owned a full size vitamix before, there are two things you need to get use to. First is that the motor is smaller so you'll need to run the blender for 50% longer, but you eventually get to the same smooth results. Second is you need to detach the blade base from the container when you wash. It's an extra step that was annoying at first but I got use to it.
Basically really good for smaller volumes of basic smoothies, dressings and sauces but struggles to produce good results with nut butters, frozen blends, and dense green smoothies.
(yes, I own the full sized one.... But why would I want one on vacation??... Sounds like a pain to travel with!)
Wtf?

We have a full size Vitamix and also one of these S models for when we travel. It would never replace my full size but you won't be disappointed. Especially at this price.
We bought our S at TJ Maxx for 200 and I think it came with one more shaker cup. Solid unit.

Why lug around a DSLR or mirrorless camera when you can just buy a cheap disposable camera?
Why bring anything at all?
If you don't see value in bringing a blender with you, then don't do it. But not everyone is okay with settling for inferior quality, while also wasting lots of money and harming the environment by continuously buying and discarding cheap products.
