Saw a new sign at Walmart that looks pretty interesting. There's no dates on it, and I can't find any info on the deal anywhere which tells me that someone probably screwed up and put the sign out too soon....but anyway.

Seems like a pretty good deal for AT&T network:

$50/mo. but $40 with autopay:
- UNL Talk & Text
- 25GB High Speed Data then 2G
- Hotspot included
- Mexico and Canada roaming included

2 lines would be $70, 3 lines would be $100, 4 lines would be $120, and 5 lines would be $140.

Looks like this deal is only at Walmart - everywhere else has 16GB data offer and it requires autopay. This offer looks like it doesn't require auto-pay.

They capp you after 22GB's? Can't do much with 2G, I pay $55 with Cricket unlimited max plan. And I use about 40 GBs of data. At peak times I switch my phone to 4G
128 kbps max and in my experience it was terrible. Took like 4-5 minutes to load a single web page.

Call them and ask to switch to prepaid. They will transfer to loyalty department (if you had service for quite some time with ATT) I was able to do that today.

Isn't the $50 unlimited? If you spend 25GB+ per month I'll say just go unlimited instead.

This may indeed be a sneaky move by AT&T. I read the bonus data is deprioritized so it may well be location specific. I am getting 80-90mBPS but the bonus data has not yet been added. If this is the case, the worse part is you use the bonus data first so theoretically you could be on slower or deprioritized data all month or at least until you use the 17gb. Hmmmm

Where does it state the bonus data is deprioritized and/or not the same as high speed data? What is it - 3g?

Nothing sneaky or nefarious. They're just adding bonus data to the plan instead of creating a new 25GB plan. That way if you switch plans or don't pay your bill the bonus data goes away.

In my area Verizon deprioritization is worse, very noticeable. I had H2O Wireless (AT&T mvno)(capped at 8 Mbps) during their promo and never noticed any deprioritization. So I imagine AT&T prepaid should be same (at least, locally). Same with TMobile prepaid and Mint, unnoticeable.

Don't be too naive, companies like AT&T all work for their own profit and good first.

Looks like they do 8 GB for plan +17 GB as bonus, the bonus kicks in after the 8GB is over. Then there is roll over involved, only the remainder of the 8GB rolls over not the bonus. Since the 17 GB is a bonus they can take it away whenever they want.

I have to disagree with you here.

Per the terms:

"Bonus data is used before plan data and does not rollover. Not combinable with select other promotions and/or discounts."

To me, this reads that I will use the 17GB first, then my regular 8GB after that. So if I use only 17GB in a month, the 8GB standard allotment would roll over to next month.

EDIT: I should note that each month it says you'll get the bonus data within 2 days of the renewal...so I guess you could technically burn through your 8GB if you use it up on the very first day after your monthly renewal, and before your bonus data kicks in the next day.

can someone comment on if "high speed data" means 4G/LTE? Why the distinction?
