Saw a new sign at Walmart that looks pretty interesting. There's no dates on it, and I can't find any info on the deal anywhere which tells me that someone probably screwed up and put the sign out too soon....but anyway.

Seems like a pretty good deal for AT&T network:

$50/mo. but $40 with autopay:
- UNL Talk & Text
- 25GB High Speed Data then 2G
- Hotspot included
- Mexico and Canada roaming included

2 lines would be $70, 3 lines would be $100, 4 lines would be $120, and 5 lines would be $140.

Looks like this deal is only at Walmart - everywhere else has 16GB data offer and it requires autopay. This offer looks like it doesn't require auto-pay.

at&t stores wont activate this walmart exclusive plan for you (we went in and they advised they don't do it) - do it at walmart or online.....
honesty i don't think it matters.

last time i activated a line at the store, they just asked for the imei of the phone that i will be using with and input into their system...so if i was to activate a new line with this walmart plan, i can easily just do the same thing, and give them the sim card included in the phone and ask them to help me activate. it's the system that will recognize the imei and the sim card # belong to walmart store and automatically do the 25GB plan after 10 days.

So those who got 8GB instead of the anticipated 17GB are getting jerked around. When I called customer service they weren't even aware of the Walmart/AT&T 25GB promo. I had her Google it and she basically had me on hold for 15 mins while speaking to tech support. Came back on and said my phone is a Walmart phone and everything checked out. Said not to freak until the full 10 days were up. HAH.

All kinds of hassle on this deal.
I'll join your optimistic bandwagon 😋. That's been the response i got the couple of times i called att prepaid CS.

Ok I see. So essentially, I would have to buy a new Walmart phone and pay for the 8GB plan again, right?
Unfortunately that would have to be the case.

If the solution to getting 25gb is to buy another Walmart phone, and activate that on the existing prepaid line, wouldn't that technically not qualify for the promo since it's not a "new" line anymore?
That is correct. It is not considered a new line. My post on page 20 is suggesting just port your original number out of AT&T. Then buy the new phone from Walmart and port your number back in.

Is it better to do that online or via in an at&t store?
Do it online via att.com Walmart exclusive site if you are going for the 8GB + 17GB promo. If you walk into att store you will get the 8GB + 8GB promo.

Full-speed Hotspot even if I roam in Canada and Mexico?

T-Mobile would only allow up to 5GB of full-speed hotspot in Canada and Mexico.
My internal document tells me that AT&T will allow up to the 25GB if you have that plan. But it is safe to assume that it will allow 8GB. It doesn't tell me anything about the bonus data.

I guess this will depend on the reps you work with at the AT&T store. We brought our phones from walmart and asked the AT&T reps to assist with activation, they straight up declined to assist and asked us to return to walmart to activate.

I can tell you this as a rep, if you walked into the store you are subjected to the store promos now. Therefore you will get the 8GB + 8 GB promo. AT&T recently updated their systems where certain promos are only for certain channels and markets. It is not the same as before where all prepaid plans are the same.

@pookyyumi,
do you know if the zip code you enter in the activation portal is what determines the area code for the number the SIM card is assigned to?

Ok just wanted to confirm because that's what caused my porting issue... I entered a Houston zip code since I live here but my actual number is from Austin. So now I have the bonus data but will lose it if port in my Austin number due to the system being "market sensitive".

If I buy a new Walmart phone and activate it with an Austin number, do you think AT&T would move the plan purchased during my previous activation (Houston number) to the new one (Austin market number)?

I would hate to have to spend another $75 (Walmart phone and plan)

My story...
activated online on 6/12 through promo link, then called porting to port number
no bonus data until yesterday when I get 8GB bonus
I have called support 4 times and 3 of the 4 just say wait the 10 days
I'm at 8 days now and I really doubt the correct promo will show up
Truth is I would probably never use more than 16GB but its the principle
