Saw a new sign at Walmart that looks pretty interesting. There's no dates on it, and I can't find any info on the deal anywhere which tells me that someone probably screwed up and put the sign out too soon....but anyway.

Seems like a pretty good deal for AT&T network:

$50/mo. but $40 with autopay:
- UNL Talk & Text
- 25GB High Speed Data then 2G
- Hotspot included
- Mexico and Canada roaming included

2 lines would be $70, 3 lines would be $100, 4 lines would be $120, and 5 lines would be $140.

Looks like this deal is only at Walmart - everywhere else has 16GB data offer and it requires autopay. This offer looks like it doesn't require auto-pay.

My story...
activated online on 6/12 through promo link, then called porting to port number
no bonus data until yesterday when I get 8GB bonus
I have called support 4 times and 3 of the 4 just say wait the 10 days
I'm at 8 days now and I really doubt the correct promo will show up
Truth is I would probably never use more than 16GB but its the principle
I hear ya. Their billing system seems terrible. In my case, I wish it was stated in the fine print that the damn system is "market sensitive"... meaning that if you are assigned a number with an area code different than the area code of your actual number, you can still port in but the promotion is forfeited because both numbers are in different markets. They don't mention anything about it and it's not something most people know, I bet.

At least I didn't think "oh let me enter a zip code that my area code covers because if I enter the zip I currently live in, it may cause issues"

Just had to vent, ha!

I don't think it's a market thing, I think it's an 'AT&T's system sucks' thing.

What I've been told by one of the AT&T store reps and CS is that with prepaid, they can't do a port after activation without canceling the line and creating a new one (which is why they want you to wait till the end of the billing cycle, so you don't lose a bunch of days you already paid for). I also asked the AT&T store rep if I did the number swap at the end of the cycle if I would still get the 8+17 bonus, and he said he could add the 8+8 bonus back on, but wasn't sure about the 8+17 bonus, and to talk to CS to see what they can do.

When I called the port activation number, I think they did cancel my service and started a new one with my ported number because my 17GB of bonus data disappeared and my billing cycle moved back 4 days. They just gave me 4 free days instead of making me pay for another month of service. I'm still waiting for my bonus data to show up again.

So I bought an AT&T phone at Walmart within the hour. Went to the Walmart deal activation online. Entered ICCID and IMEI on box and my zip code. I got an error that says we don't recognize that SIM Card #. The entry box says SIM/ICCID. Anyone else have this happen?

OK I see. Maybe what they told me is what they use to hide how crappy their system is haha. When you did the phone activation online, did you see an option to port in your number?

No option for me either. I typed in the phone info, zip, and billing info, then the site was like 'here's your new number'.

I activated and the new number they gave me is complete crap and is getting 20 robocalls a day. Does anyone know if I call CS and have them give me a new number, if it will affect the BONUS data or the Plan?

I hated AT&T when I had them before. But, hey for a great deal, thought I'd give them a try after 9 years. Walmart sold me an AT&T phone that doesn't seem to have a valid number on the SIM card. Can't activate it online, in the phone itself, or by calling AT&T. Spent the majority of the 46 minutes on hold waiting for a tech only to have the call ended. So tired of hearing "Making your day stress free...That's our thing" Ha! I'm returning this phone to Walmart tomorrow.

Has anyone done a speedtest on their new at&t prepaid line? I have yet to see some decent speeds. Nothing over 13mbps.

I've noticed 4-6Mbps in daytime and 20-30Mbps at night so I'm thinking there is definite deprioritization and/or congestion. I'm in Jacksonville / Mandarin area where there is a lot of businesses fwiw

I have verified these speeds 3 straight days using both speedtest.ney and fast.com

I had the same problem with one of the phones I bought. The sticker was different from the actual IMEI. Dial *#06# on the phone to get the imei. And read the ICCID off the SIM card (take a picture and zoom in).

@pookyyumi,
do you know if the zip code you enter in the activation portal is what determines the area code for the number the SIM card is assigned to?
It's the zip code you enter.
