Saw a new sign at Walmart that looks pretty interesting. There's no dates on it, and I can't find any info on the deal anywhere which tells me that someone probably screwed up and put the sign out too soon....but anyway.

Seems like a pretty good deal for AT&T network:

$50/mo. but $40 with autopay:
- UNL Talk & Text
- 25GB High Speed Data then 2G
- Hotspot included
- Mexico and Canada roaming included

2 lines would be $70, 3 lines would be $100, 4 lines would be $120, and 5 lines would be $140.

Looks like this deal is only at Walmart - everywhere else has 16GB data offer and it requires autopay. This offer looks like it doesn't require auto-pay.

I bought a phone from Walmart on Monday and actiavated in from the Walmart promo link. Still showing only 8g data and no bonus. I am holding off porting my number since I don't wanna lose my free spirnt plan for 8 or even 16gb data. With taxes this plan is $44.xx. At&t may be good in coverage but not $40 better per month than sprint. If I don't get the bonus data I will return the phone charge back the refill and file a FTC complaint. I even bought the expensive nokia 3.1 so that I could actually use the phone for few days.
If you buy ATT refills online through Target using a Redcard (or Discover card from Oct-Dec, which gives 5% back at Target), the monthly price becomes $38. By sticking with a temporary free Sprint plan with a company trying to sell itself means you'd be missing out on the possibility of a permanent 25GB data allotment or the Visible unlimited data/speed temporary deal for $40 (plus a $100 bonus for switching or buying a new phone). So it's possible that by waiting you won't have such generous deals from the largest network providers available when you need a paid plan.

Also, doing a chargeback and filing an FCC complaint isn't going to work if you haven't given ATT the time to provide the promised service. As when Moviepass went to $10 a month and there was a rush of new customers complaining because they hadn't received their cards, ATT has said they've been overwhelmed by the response to the promotion and it's taking them time to catch up. If you haven't taken the time to

Registered 4 phones via call into ATT on the 28th, and today the bonus data showed up.....8 extra GB per account.

Called customer service and he is "certain" that after the 10 days, I will get another 17 GB (33 total). I told him that is very unlikely and I'm not porting my numbers until this is straightened out. Any advice on how to escalate it from offshore CS who is just saying whatever he thinks will get me off the phone the quickest?
The ATT website says you can contact them after 10 days if you haven't received the 25GB. Then you have a reason to get them to make a case file and escalate it. I was told it would take 3-5 days after the case file was made before I'd see the 25GB, but fortunately if I have to call back, all the info is supposedly in their system, such as verification of Walmart IMEI, etc. So my advice is be patient but persistent, since they claim to have a backlog of updating accounts, while others have apparently given up and accepted the 16GB they're getting now without demanding what they're entitled to.

The Sprint plan is not temporary it's the 2nd year of the promo running. The plan from Visible and this AT&T offer is temporary so you go it the underway. The company is going to Merge to T-Mobile making both of them bigger and better than both AT&T and Verizon. And none of these plans have the 100mbs downtown speeds of Sprint or free roaming data and texting over 31 countries. And do you know much the Sprint plan costs? $3!! So I am not losing out on anything Visible will soon have to lower price to $30 since definitely they are not seeing a lot of customers signing up and hence the $100, $200 promo. Dude where do you live? There is always a better deal coming, deals don't stop coming because companies gonna have to keep selling. And did you read right I said I am gonna wait till the mentioned 10 days. It's funny that for AT&T is getting overwhelmed with activations on prepaids? That doesn't reflect on a good business model if they can't even support their own promo and the company in discussion is a multi billion dollar company. I am an ex AT&T employee and I can tell it is one of the most inefficient wasteful companies of corporate america. Wish the telecom was deregulated and international competition was let in and the consumers could have better pricing better choice better service and companies could improve on tech, pricing, operations etc

I have a feeling that during the waiting period before the 17Gb shows up, the sim needs to be in the walmart phone.

So with porting in, it does not matter when you port in. From your experience, you ported in a single visit to att store, and kept the sim inside the walmart phone til the 17Gb data showed up.

I wanna redo this again, i might port out to t-mobile get the $3 plan +$10 sim card, then port in again to att but ill bring the walmart phone to an att store and port in the same time.

Or should i port out to google voice instead? it's $20 to port out.
If you port your number to Google Voice there is never ever a need to port out from it. Actually now you can buy whatever sim and plan that has the best deal and you don't have to worry about porting your number since you can setup everything via the google voice and no one needs to know your physical phone number

And you're forced to use the Google Voice app to send the correct caller ID.

So you use the app or forward your outbound calls through Google Voice to send the correct caller ID?

To be safe, you can use the purchased device until bonus data posts to account(within 10 days). I switched my sim out right away and will see if data actually gets added to my account and report back.

Some phone choices...

Nokia 3.1a $89 - decent budget phone with Android Pie(Android One)
Alcatel idealXTRA - cheapest I've found as several stores near me $25 brickseek [brickseek.com]
Samsung Galaxy Express Prime 3 - found for $31 several locations near me brickseek [brickseek.com]
Did you end up receiving the bonus data?

I bought the prepaid phone from Walmart and activated June 17. Still only have the 8GB bonus. CSR keeps telling me 3-5 days but no luck. Just filed an FCC complaint, hopefully that triggers something.

Yeah I took out the sim for one day but has been in the prepaid ever since.

I'm in a multi line where all of us bought the phones and activated at the same time. Unfortunately 3/10 of us still only have 8gb bonus. 4 of the guys had it rectified yesterday.

Also I don't think keeping the sim in the phone does anything as a couple of the guys in my multi line have had it out since day one but still got the 17GB promo.
