Just a FYI that consumer reports rated the walmart brand equate ultra spf 50 as one of the best buys.
It is priced at $0.50/oz and has the same active ingredients as the top rated La-roche Posay at $7/oz Smilie

Does this have the crap that kills coral?

Also note that sprays SUCK and I highly suggest no one use them, ever. Lotion or nothing.

I don't think the sprays suck. You can apply them and the alcohol evaporates and you are not left with that greasy feeling at all compared to the lotion which has way more non sunscreen ingredients

Even though they have the same active sunscreening ingredients, the formulation also matters as it will determine their efficacy. For example, LPR's formulation might better stabilize and prevent chemical deterioration of the ingredients in the bottle; on the skin, the formulation would potentially guarantees a more even distribution and better adherence to the epidermal layers, and so on...

Sprays are a godsend for those of us that hate being greasy. Also, for example when I have to apply sunscreen to my DD's - how do you apply lotion to parts in hair? Yeah it's a PITA. Spray FTW.

At any rate I could have sworn I read that 100 SPF is full of shit:

Why experts say you should avoid sunscreen higher than SPF 50 [businessinsider.com]

In theory, sunscreen with super-high SPF should give you the best protection against damaging UV radiation.

But in practice, it doesn't really work that way.

At best, high-SPF sunscreens give you only slightly better protection than a sunscreen with SPF 50...

But the truth is that higher-SPF products are only marginally better at shielding you from UVB, according to both the EWG and the Skin Cancer Foundation. SPF 30 blocks nearly 97% of UVB radiation, SPF 50 blocks about 98%, and SPF 100 blocks about 99%.

--------------

Bottom line is that 100 SPF isn't harmful but only gives marginally more protection. It's not like it works twice as long as 50 SPF.
