Hard wiring can kill your car battery in a couple of days if there is a lot of movement it senses, such as rain or trees in the wind.

I use this OBD unit to connect it to a robust power bank for extended periods or to toggle on/off extended recording while out and about: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...le_o09_s00
4K is not 4K. It is interpolated up from 1040p.
Your card is too slow. Replace SD card

So is it just as good as the DR02 version if the 4k is interpolated?

Capacitor units are not instant on like a battery unit. Takes several seconds. So, no.

And no on Wifi.

However, I'm very happy with my DR02d.

Actually these can absolutely record when your car is off, you'll just have to hardwire a power connection to a fuse that is always powered by your car instead of the cigarette lighter. I hooked mine up to the hazard lights on car and it will keep recording even when my car is off. The downside is that it will keep pulling power from your battery and I notice it when I start my car after 4-5 days of not driving.

Here is the kit I used to hardwire it. the other benefit is that it looks cleaner without any wires showing. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0765683WG/ref=ya_aw_od_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I used a similar setup - add-a-fuse from pep boys, and a 12V -> USB female plug from ebay in case I ever switch dash cams and it uses a different connector. Mine are wired to the car door fuse.

Thanks for the insight! Just to clarify, do you connect the linked OBD unit to a power bank, which then powers the dashcam?
