Normally has a 5Mbps speed cap. Don't know when the deal expires.
When it expires, the speed cap will be re-engaged, but only for new members after that point. Anyone who gets uncapped speeds from today will get to keep them as long as they remain a Visible subscriber.
There's a phone compatibility checker:

Like all the fud in the freedompop thread! "Close you account NOW, or PAY THE PRICE"
The problem is people like you are just speaking out their ass..
Have had Visible since launch. Have never once had a dropped call..
Just like the person you're responding to did, YOU are making the same mistaken assumption that your personal experience is universal to all. I'm glad your service is going well, but visit https://www.reddit.com/r/visible to see plenty of posts from people where that isn't the case.
TL;DR: "Pot, meet kettle."
Thinking to go Total Wireless, have 2 lines and we aren't data hogs.....2-3GB per month.
True, but assuming you stay with them for a while a cheap phone is a minor cost. Presumably you can even switch it out and sell their phone on Swappa, Fleabay, or Craigslist to recoup some of that cost. Certainly worth considering if you need decent service & coverage.
And it's utterly impossible for some random app to get it wrong, eh? Visible is OWNED by Verizon [duckduckgo.com].
Unlikely unless they have another serious bout of major issues. That was basically an attempt to bribe people to put up with them while they iron things out. Might have worked on those without a serious dependency on their phones, but for many others it wasn't enough to justify putting up with the ongoing troubles.
i already have phone service
I'd rather get the "iPad" plan from AT&T for $35/mo. There's no limit other than a supposed deprioritization after something like 23GB, but most every report I've seen says nobody's noticed any kind of downgrade from it. I've been using it in an old AT&T hotspot myself for the past few months as home internet and no issues thus far. I've seen people claim to have used over 2TB in a month without a problem.
Plenty of discussion all over the internet about it, so shouldn't be hard to find a "how-to" if you're interested - try to make sure the post is within the past year or so just to be sure you're working with up-to-date info as AT&T did stop offering it for a while.

Based on what I've read on reddit, customer service has been swamped since they raised the 5mb speed caps yesterday due to new signups.

I used to think so aswell, but it's not what you think, it uses the regular phone dialer and text message app like other service's. "Phone service in an app" just means that there's no physical visible store.

The Total Wireless service was just as good as Verizon postpaid except for the speed limitation (at the time). I think I was seeing 5mbps but it was steady. At the 6GB mark it cuts data completely, no unlimited 2G.
If I had to go on Total Wireless I wouldn't be bothered by it, it was a good experience.
