There sure are a lot of people who have never worked in product design and r&d in here, voraciously defending a product simply because they paid more. You paid for r&d costs and first to market.

One of the primary strategies we employ when launching a new product is understanding how long we can convince people that we are the best and most reliable option. To claim that other manufacturers can't match the quality or performance is garbage - most of the time engineers hop from one company to another. I've been designing insulation products for nearly 20 years and can assure you, there's nobody that's decades or even years ahead in development.

The bottom line is that even *if* yeti had some state of the art technology (hint: they don't), other companies can easily come behind with a very similar or even better product very quickly.

That doesn't mean they're a bad product at all, quite the opposite. But others have caught up fairly quickly because it's a cooler, and they're extremely simple.

You paid for R&D. I've been working in high end insulation for almost 20 years. You paid for R&D. You're paying for brand loyalty and product segment differentiating. Your arguments are exactly why it works, and it's hilarious that you'll deny it, even after reading this.

Ah, consumers are fun.

Anyhow, enjoy your coolers!

And for what it's worth, I buy "close follower" products a lot more than I buy overpriced first to market.

Yeti has done an absolutely amazing job building a lifestyle brand but their products though good quality and vastly overpriced and not unique in tech or build. There are others every bit as good or some even better for a lower price point

Exactly. I'm in R&D and thought the same thing. The rotomold technology is the most important aspect other than that it's mainly tolerancing. Almost everyone here is better off with a cheaper rotomolded cooler. But if people want to pay more for a name brand, go ahead but you're wasting your money.

Don't know if I'd go with ozark level of without doing more research but at least RTIC is enough. Reminds me of people who think Beats headphones are awesome. Another great marketing campaign with meh products.
