This price is $6 less than the previous Frontpage deal. -Corwin
Basically, from 'best to worst' it goes MLC (such as Samsung 970 pro, 2x as expensive as similarly sized drives but also 2-3x faster), then TLC, followed by QLC. This 660p for example has write speeds of 1800mb\sec whereas the 970 pro is 2700mb\sec
if you Google nvme comparisons or best budget nvme many sites list the 660p 2tb model as one of the best (budget) options. all of the models have an SLC cache which is what allows the high speed writes, and on the 2tb model that cache starts out at around 170tb. which means as long as you are transferring less than 170tb of data at a time, you shouldn't see a write speed dip too far below the advertised 1800 megabytes per second. as the drive fills up, the cache gets smaller but even at 75% drive usage the cache is still over 75 GB.
a lot of people like to crap on qlc drives with the argument that write speeds slow down to regular HDD levels with big data transfers. but the reality is that is not going to happen for the vast majority of users. if you regularly write over a hundred gigabytes of files in one setting, daily, you do not want to buy a qlc drive and should stick with something like the Samsung 970.
It will say so in the product title or description...this 660p is qlc. Great all around budget nvme drive and the 5 year warranty is icing on the cake. If you are an average user you will have no problems with this drive
Thanks for this very informative post. In my past research, most people won't tell much of a difference between SATA speeds (500/MBs) and NVMe (1800+/MBs), so you'd be hard pressed to notice a difference between 1800/MBs and 2700/MBs.

How hot are we talking about here? I am running a Sabrent 256GB Rocket from the FP deal with a heatsink and I am getting 24C while using it for everyday stuff. My Intel SATA SSD and Inland run at 31 and 33C respectively.

Thank you. If it's not in the title can we tell by the name? I bought Crucial P1 1TB 3D NAND NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD - CT1000P1SSD8 yesterday and have no clue since I couldn't find the information anywhere...
