I had 2 of these for about 4~5 years.
A couple reasons these get my unequivocal support
I upgraded to dual 2560x1440 monitors (specifically Dell due to U2412HM experience) and gave my wife my U2412's for her home office - she loves them and says they are nicer than the setup her employer gave her at work.
Only drawback is the slower-than-usual refresh rate (8ms), but if you aren't playing games or watching action movies I don't think that matters.
