Because they are meant to be on a boat.
You have to know how to pack a cooler. Double-ziplock your food, get all the air out of the bags. Use block ice, and a lot of it. 2 20lbs bags isn't a lot, particularly at the store-bought ice temps. Make it at home and get your freezer set to the coldest temps it'll do.

I regularly do 5-day camping trips with this cooler. No problems at all.
And thus too heavy, since they'll be filled with beer. And on the way home from the marina, you can stop and buy some fish.

I want the cooler but was disapointed to see those handles. I have a cheaper Coleman cooler and the handles are very poorly made, it can't be picked up with any weight in it.have to pass for this reason, maybe they'll redesign them and improve.

Why don't these marine coolers have wheels, or are they too heavy

Arrives Sept 30-Oct 03? Just in time to not use it this season. Meh. Good price on an OK cooler (if you need 120 size - most would be better served to have two smaller coolers for many reasons). This thing is a beast when fully loaded with food/drinks/ice (super heavy). Ice retention statements are overstated, as you would be lucky to get a long weekend's worth when fully stocked.

To sum up, if you are familiar with this and know what you are getting, this is a good deal. Otherwise, keep what I said above in mind, or you will suffer the SD effect, and buy it because it is a "deal".

I bought this for camping, added two 20lb bags of ice along with all of our cold stuff from the fridge at about 2pm on Sunday, by Monday evening the majority of the ice had melted and it was more of an ice water bath for everything. Ruined a bunch of our food. I returned this one and the other 100qt of this same brand and model.

The 150qt Igloo MaxCold cooler that we borrowed from a friend actually froze some of the food (the other couple used this cooler, they bought fudge and it froze the fudge). It had some water on the final day ( We arrived on Sunday, left on Thursday) but there was still a lot of ice left.

Just a pre-warning, it will not keep your ice for 36 hours let alone six days.

*Edit: It's also annoying to close and open. The lid fits tight which made me think it would keep the ice like they said but it didn't help.
