I don't have any knowledge about this software change people have been talking about, but I've owned one of these for about 7 years now, and I absolutely love it. It works flawlessly across several devices. I don't believe I've ever had a significant issue with it. Setup and reconfiguration over the years have been a breeze. The app UI is a bit screwy and unintuitive, but everything is there
This is a solid product and replaced every remote for all 3 of my TV's.

A lot of negative reviews seem to be stem from user error or lack of know-how.

The only "con" for me is the remote not being backlit and basic. That said, it gets the job done and battery lasts.

If you have multiple units and want to use with Alexa and don't want to have to say "Tell Harmony..." set up and tie it in with Yonomi and give each specific routine a unique name.

Also, love the fact that I can "fix" the TV for the wifey or guests when I am out of the house. Saves my sanity by not having to explain how to do something over the phone.
Not sure why you are getting snarky with me. The fact remains that it has always worked with all the major home automation platforms. How do I know, because I use it. The few people who wanted to mcguyver things ran into issues. Which was also corrected.

Good price, op - thanks. I had been thinking about one...then I read the recent Amazon reviews regarding a software change late last year.

Just FYI, potential buyers would be wise to check it out, just in case the changes might affect your intended use.

I was not aware of any issues (after using it for few years) until I read your comment. Very happy with the hub and ability to control via both IR and BT.

The API was restored, as several updated reviews noted. This only was an issue for DIY home automation tinkering.

I swear this was $50 just 2 days ago.
I was comparing amazon with an openbox item at walmart.
I thought it was normal price, and didn't make a fuss about it..

I have the hub already but would like the remote. Any idea where to find it or one that works with it?

Would there be a reason to get this when you already have they Harmony 700 remote? The one reason I can see is if we wanted to control a fire stick with the Harmony, we'd need one with a hub. But at the moment we just use roku (have fire sticks that we would start using IF we get an Amazon recast). So, other than that, is there a plus side to getting this one?

It definitely was $49.99, I think maybe even yesterday because I was considering it, too.

I have an elite and love it. The dog (great dane) got ahold of it when we were out and scratched it all to shit. Still works just looks ugly now. If I switch to one of these anyone know which features I'd be giving up besides the touch screen and home automation buttons?

yup, great device, have 2, would love a backlit version. need to look up that yonomi thing, ever since i added the second i lost the ability to voice control with alexa in bedroom and google hub in living room.

i think only 8 devices instead of 15 on the elite and that is about it other than the physical remote.
