Now to get the same service through Circle, I would have to subscribe to their monthly plan. I hate having that as my only option (pretty much, without 'hacking'). I feel Netgear dropped the ball on parental controls and pretty much walked away from them. With a teen and 8 year old, I want to have better controls, options and flexibility. Looking through TP-Link and Asus (for example) they have WAY more options (free & built in) than this router now has now since it relies on Circle for parental controls.
If your looking for good parental controls (without a subscription cost) I would look at other routers. Just my 2 cents worth.

Our Asus router failed and the new in box TP-Link bought as a backup was absolute crap (don't buy). Amazon got the Netgear to us with Prime the next day. Really helpful as our home has need for not only internet all over, but our Tivo minis run off ethernet too so no other rooms had TV.

This is a good deal
