I bought one of these when they went on sale for $300 back in July. I wanted an entry level mountain bike that I could upgrade with what I wanted and its been great. I spent about $200 more on it getting a new handlebar and lock on grips, Shimano hydraulic brakes (this was a personal preference thing, the cable brakes weren't terrible), pedals, and a new set of tires. SR Suntour has an upgrade program where you can email them your serial number and they cut you a huge discount on an air fork. I think that will be the last piece I end up replacing before I'm done upgrading the bike.

A lot of people gave me grief over it and said I should have just saved my money and bought something that was $500. I disagree. I put down $300 out of the store and got months of use out of it while I was upgrading it. I also got to choose exactly what parts/tires/grips went on it. If this was a +$1000 bike, I'd get it from my local bike shop for sure, but this is a bike that I have had a very good time riding on the road and on the trail. I think this is a great deal, even slightly over $300 where it is now.
