Editor's Notes & Price Research
The Troy Lee Designs A1 MIPS Bike Helmet is built for balance. It's poly-carbonate shell with EPS core bridges the gap between coverage and comfort for added protection when the trail gets steep and the triple fit support system keep this bucket locked in place, eyewear or not. - Discombobulated

As with all things safety-related, the most determining factor in staying safe (other than not crashing in the first place) is wearing a helmet, any helmet. A helmet that is 5 or 10 years old, or that doesn't get the very top safety rating, etc will provide *vastly* more protection than not wearing anything at all. The fine line between a successful CPSC impact test and a failure (assuming the helmet doesn't split wide open) can be only 5-10g (passing is under 300g, failure is 300g or higher). So a helmet that fails a CPSC impact test might register 305g (OMFG, UNSAFE!!!!) while one that passes might get ~295g.
And before anyone asks, I was a PM as MIPS was just starting to become adopted industry-wide. While the science makes claims that can be recreated in a lab, there are no real-world studies showing that it decreases the likelihood of head injuries. So take that for what it's worth. There are also alternative technologies like Wave Cell and whatever Specialized patented earlier this year. But otherwise ask me any questions you want!
tldr Not really.

I qualified for both so I am in for one. My prior helmet was Troy Lee so I am happy with the quality and protection offered.
