Yes, after the Costco associate takes out the phone, grab it and run out the store with it. If you are fast enough, this will work...

Most of the questions asked here are either in the promotion posting, or are just stupid. Read before posting.

The document tells you which items will be accepted for trade. You can NOT do a IP6, or SE, or Samsung, etc.

It really does not matter how much they give you for the trade. The total rebate you will get will total $580.

Yes, this promotion is for people adding T-Mobile new lines. Duh! Think!

Simple math tells you that trading in an XS or XR is probably not going to make sense in most cases. So, if then don't. Duh!

Nobody has asked yet, but yes the phone must be paid for. And yes it must work. And yes it must not be broken. Duh!

And yes, you must have a Costco card to pay for the phone.

How much does ___ cost at Costco? Easy - go to the website. Prices are listed.
iPhone 8 through Apple gets you $220
iPhone XS through Apple gets you $500

iPhone 8 through this Costco deal gets you $580
iPhone XS through this Costco deal gets you $580

😂😂the one I went to is like a 120 miles. But I guess you're right. Might not be worth the risk
Uhhhhh no nevermind I would rather try to call the rep specifically and have them complete the process with you over the phone and trust that they actually do it rather than bullshitting lol that's a long time to waste driving. Just make sure get their name and phone number. You might honestly be fine without all the hassle but I'd at least call them in your case to have them repeat the process. They'll be happy to do it I'm sure cause they'll definitely lose their commission if you just end up returning the phone/canceling the line.

The rep at Costco tonight told me that if I got an iPhone with this deal and added a line to my plan, I would only be able to use the new iPhone with the new number that I added. They said I would have to wait 60 days to be able to use the new iPhone with one of my existing numbers. Said something about the phones coming locked to prevent fraud and changing the SIM would lock them out. This doesn't sound right to me. Does anyone know?
This is certainly not the case and I can attest to that as I've swapped the new phones' sim card multiple times and both work fine. Past deals haven't had the requirement to keep the same SIM in for rebate approval either.

Yeah, I have the reps number who sold me the phone, she was kinda flirting for the entire 30 minutes from purchase to activation and then some more but I have already sent in my 6s for trade in. I hope it was just a piece of paper that she just missed to hand out to me.

So went to Costco to do exchange. However, rep said to submit the rebate form online first with the old phones imei. He confirmed with multiple T-Mobile reps on the phone that the rebate will still be good when doing exchange.
If I wait till rebate card is sent to me and then cancel line and try to return the device within 90 days, will that work?

This would be the fastest turn around time I'd ever seen for the rebate! You would know when the tmobile # that you chose to receive the virtual gift card (when submitting the rebate online) receives a text message with a link to redeem/receive the gift card. When I did the deal last that was the only notification I received - no e-mail or snail mail at all, just the text.
So they send to the T-mobile phone number you just open for the promotion? Or to the phone number you put in your line account? Thanks.

When you completed the rebate submission process online at t-mobile.com/promotions you had to select a phone number on the account to send the e-gift card to, on the same page that you typed in your name and physical address. Whatever number that is will be the number it gets sent to.

At Costco they do need the IMEI as well as model, storage amount, and color in order to initiate the trade-in process.

You're a disgrace to this site and sounds to me like you've done this before. People like you are the reason why honest people have to pay more for things. You're telling me you want to collect a rebate (for free) after trade in, cancel line (guy at Costco loses commission) and then also return phone??! Sounds like theft And fraud to me.....

All right So here is what I did & waste my half of day at Costco.

1. Using this plan I trade in Iphone-7 (128 GB) for $70 ( this is what they calcualted)
2. Opted for unlimited plan $60/month ( with tax it will reach $65)
3. Got an Iphone -11 (128 GB) $749.00 ( Including all taxes, they discounted $70 upfront)
4. Associate told me that I will get 580-70 = $510 on Gift card.

So far things were all right and I was happy. Then I read this slick deal thread & did my calculation back , here is what I curated.

- I would need to wait for at least 3 months to get my GC ( worth $510) BUT ( yes a big but) until then I would be paying approximate $200 ( 3 months of bill of this line including all taxes) , out of which $70 will applied as credit of my I phone 7.

- Now actual saving would be $510(GC) - $200(3 Months bill) + $70 (tradein credit) = $380 ( still sounds fair right ?)
- Actually No , I am trading in Iphone 7 too ( still thinking about it) , Market value of Iphone 7 is roughly $250 ( unless you do funny trade in like this ) hence my rough estimation says all I am saving here is $380-$250( I can do happy trade-in on this price)= $130

I'm going to return it as I am sure I will save more then that on some Black Friday deal , if not at least I will keep my I phone 7 which I bought at $899 ( 2 years back)
I also determined that if i was just doing this to get the iphone free and clear, having 3 months of bills, doesn't make it a great savings.

But if you're either on tmobile, or for my case, i just dropped verizon and went to tmobile, i would have been paying the monthly fee for usage already, I consider it a savings, and I can switch back in 3 months and port all my numbers back no biggie. Also because you did an 7 trade in, if you sold that at market value stated, and buy a 6s for $100-120 its also more savings.

After activating the new iPhones, can I switch the sim cards out and use them in different devices? Would that affect the rebate processing?

You need to turn on the phone with the SIM card at least 1 time ( or make a call/text to be sure) so it gets registered on T-Mobile. I had a rebate denied before for keeping a Box sealed, and It was a hassle to get it resubmitted it and approved
After turning it on once, or leaving it on with the sim for 24hr, can you take the sim out and use the sim in a different phone, would the original phone w/o sim still be eligible for unlock after 40 days?

Has anyone has received approval of the rebate? I submitted my trade-ins on 5th of this month and I see below on my t-mobile account.

Reward Type: Virtual Prepaid Card
Status: Received.

What does it mean? Is the rebate still under process? When will I know, that my rebate is approved? Thanks.
Received just means you submitted it. Nothing has happened to it yet.

It says on the site:

"- How will T-Mobile notify me when my submission has been received and processed?
Once you have completed your submission, we'll send you a free text message confirming receipt of your submission. And you'll receive another free text message once your reward has been approved and processed."

And it says to expect 6-8 weeks processing time.
