Does porting in another number from a different carrier count as activating a line?

I see the same offer on T-Mobile.com - $580 rebate. What benefit do I get from going through Costco?
🤦🏽 ♂️ if you buy at Costco and walk out with the phone on the spot, you get a big rebate card.

If you do this deal at Costco and they order you a phone, bill credits. Same as if you do this on tmobile, bill credits.

The preference here is the big rebate card so that you can cancel the line. Plus, if the phone is purchased on the spot, for example iPhone 11 64gb, the price is $630 instead of $700

Yes. Although porting is not necessary

Great deal, no doubt! I have the iPhone 6s Plus 64GB in excellent condition, unlocked, battery replaced by Apple 10 months ago. Its current eBay value is about $170. I was planning to upgrade to the 2020 iPhone because of 5G and, hopefully, USB-C port. Also by then, I would probably need the faster CPU. Here are my calculations. In order to get this deal, I would have to give up my current iPhone - $170 value, pay for the new iPhone 11 - $671 (650+tax-cash reward credit card), and ~2 months of T-Mobile service for the extra line I don't need - $20 (2x$10/month), total out of pocket is $861 in cash and old electronics. What I get back in return: $580 gift card (trade-in plus remainder on the card) and iPhone 11 that I estimate I would be able to sell for about $400 after eBay fees and shipping in 12 months from now, total gained $980 in cash and new electronics. The difference is $119 of profit. If I were to sell my iPhone 6s plus next year, I would be able to get about the same ~$100. So, realistically, this comes down to whether I want to use iPhone 11 of iPhone 6s for the next 12 months, because money-wise it's the same. After searching for "iPhone 11 vs 6s" on youtube, they are the same speed for every day tasks on iOS 13. So really, there is no difference for me right now even though iPhone 11 is a better phone overall. I'm happy with my current phone and I'm not in the rush to give up the home button and the headphone jack right now. Awesome deal, but, I think I'll pass until next year, even if 6S will no longer be accepted as a trade-in.
so 120 savings plus 1 year usage of new phone ( assume 10$ per month) - so it could 240$ worth plus 1 year new phone experience.

Does anyone know if an iPhone 6 Plus qualify as a trade-in device?
iPhone 6s or newer. Emphasis on the s at the end of 6s.

Can you port in a T-Mobile number from one account to another account?
We have two family plans and thinking of taking advantage of this offer and add a line and then port in the number from the other plan and cancel that one.

Any ideas if it is doable?

Are you sure they're allowing Essentials but not the Essentials 55?

My One 55+ plan qualified just fine last year (they allowed a 3rd line on some plans).
I have Ultimate One 55+, and they said it is not qualified for this promotion. He said Tmoblie rep. that he called for me said so too. How did you get it?

Depends on your rate plan. But it seems like you should be able to. Finding a store with 4 in stock and the Costco kiosk rep not thinking you are shady is the hard part

But can't you, in the extreme case, go to 4 different Costco's?

Yea. You should be able to. The limit is 4 unlike past Xr Costco deals which were 1 per account. Do a chat with Costco and ask for stock in your zip code
