I bought a Straight Talk iPhone 6s at Walmart to trade in. (My wife has a 6s she needs to upgrade, but is travelling for work right now.)

Do you know - do we need to activate it before trading it in? Or can we just send it in as-is?

I've been trying to read back, and other Straight Talk/ Tracfone threads, but this thread is crazy long now.

Thanks!
Have you ever used an iPhone?
If yes then you would know that when you "reset" it (which is what you are supposed to do before trading-in), then next time anyone starts it, it will try to activate it, again!
In other words, you activating it or not makes no difference if you are going to "reset" it anyway !!!

Checked the status of my rebate and it states : PENDING

What does that means?

- Also I've got a bill from TMO to paid on the 29th so I'm assuming they'll adjust that once Assurion gives the green light on my 6s they've received or maybe the bill credit will post next bill cycle?

Anyone got answer to this? Can we open a second account to overcome the 8 line limitation on ONE plan?
Nope !
One person can open only one a/c !!
But you can upgrade your One plan to Magenta+ plan which allows 9-12 lines !
Although 9th line onward costs $30/month and not $20/month like before !

I took Essentials 65, and it's there in their list.

what's the trade-in value for 6s?
How abt $580? Will that be acceptable to you???
I mean seriously... whether they credit $1, $31 or $131 in your a/c, the total trade-in value will be $580 so how does it matter???

got a 11 pro at costco today but had few questions,
1. the rep said I need to stay with t-mobile for 6 months, otherwise they would ask the rebate back. all the people here said 3 months, so is it 3 or 6 months I need to stay with t-mobile to keep the rebate?
2. now all the sim cards are inside the phone in the box, does that mean there is no way I can sell the phone sealed in the box? and the rep said I need to activate the phone and the sim card, if I don't I might lost the promotion.

so how can I use the sim on my spare phone and sell the iphone 11 as NEW?
1a) Rep says 6 months because that's how long before they get commission for your activation. After you get your rebate, you cancel there's NO WAY they can get their money back from you. People recommend 90 days (3 months) because they've been told if you abuse promotions and cancel bfore 3 months, you may get banned from future promotions. If you don't care about future promotions or won't need to utilize another tmobile promotion for a few years, don't worry about it.
2a) You should probably turn on the phone to activate the sim on the phone to get it to register the IMEI for the promotion. However, I was told after 24 hours I can move the sim to a different device. You can sell the phone but if you don't use it for 40 days on a tmobile sim, it will stay locked to tmobile. After 40 days you can call them to unlock it, and it should be usable on any carrier.

I can confirm this includes the iPhone 11 Pro Max. I picked one up today along with three iPhone 11 Pros 👍🏼.

CSR was very helpful at my local Costco! Definitely need to activate all the new phones for them to register as active lines for the rebate as many have mentioned previously.

You need to turn on the phone with the SIM card at least 1 time ( or make a call/text to be sure) so it gets registered on T-Mobile. I had a rebate denied before for keeping a Box sealed, and It was a hassle to get it resubmitted it and approved
Thanks for the tip.

They're supposed to give you paperwork. At the very least they should give you a label page for each 6s to you need to mail back, and a paper telling you the site to fill out the rebate.
