Yeah, I find it pretty loud.
Worse than the 2018 version.

This is 1 solution that I found online. Not perfect, but when doing something not too CPU intensive, this helps with the noise.

actually I did all windows update, and removed a few apps (McAfee, etc). It initally was till loud, but after a while, it became quiet now. I'll see how long it keeps quiet.

Similar to that video, I altered the "System Cooling Policy" to "Passive". Will have to see longer term performance impacts to making the the system throttle the CPU vs. run the fan faster.

Is there a chance that when HP FINDS OUT they will downgrade this laptop through a FORCED UPDATE and gimp the i5 into becoming an i3?

I don't see why a company would ever do this...it'll only hurt themselves...

Better call Saul. Zero chance. HP would probably wind up deleting the hard drive.

Product segmentation and was originally supposed to be i3 anyway but I think you're right. It's far more likely they wouldn't. *prays*

I have the last years version and am happy with it. I first one had to be exchanged due to WiFi cars issues which was noted by others in last years thread.
However
This new one has no Ethernet or ability to add a 2nd hard drive which is a disappointment

It's Costco's fault not HP. Costco is the one advertising it as i3.

How do you confirm, if it is i3 or i5?

This is not entirely true.
HP DOES list it as I3. Costco simply gets the product info from HP directly.

https://support.hp.com/ca-en/document/c06463284

My theory is this:
HP is well aware of the laptop being shipped with an I5, which explains why the box label prints I5. They intended to ship the laptop with an I3, which is the reason why their website still lists it with an I3 CPU.

The reason why we got an I5 could be because they couldn't get enough I3 from Intel in time (?)

I'm guessing the possible future outcome::
1) The next batch HP produce will come with I3 CPU (which explains why HP hasn't changed their support page from I3 to I5). There will be 2 versions with identical product. People who got the first batch will just be lucky owners

or
2) They will simply discontinue the whole product altogether as not only are they losing money by selling this product potentially, it only affects the sales of their other higher-end laptop as there's no reason to spend more and end up getting anything less than a I5-1035G4

Just my 2 cents

Easy. All you need is a hairdryer, a screwdriver, and a plastic card. Hairdryer is to make it easier to remove the rubber feet and the plastic card is used to wedge between the back plate and the body to undo the back plate clips.
derrickd5From what's others have said no. If you got a good deal on a 8gb, lmk!
Do you need to hair dry the rubber feet before putting them back in? What's a good alternative adhesive for the feet?
