Perhaps the costco Dell $349 with touchscreen, twice ram, 4 times SSD size will not have problem with keyboard, touchpad, and noise... Wish some had model to compare, but evidently special one made for costco.
With an almost 2 years old CPU which you tend to constantly ignore and keep forgetting to mention. Not to mention DOUBLE the weight. Have you logged a 4.2 lb machine all day walking back and forth from buildings?

Did you read what Nitrohamster posted? That's why I asked if he actually ordered the laptop posted here. If he did, then he's one of the very few people who've mentioned getting the i3 instead of the i5. If he didn't, then he ordered a similar laptop that actually has the i3 and he needs to order from the link in the OP to get the i5 or look for the correct item number (#1371252) in Costco.com.

Ok got it. Thanks for spoonfeeding the info.

Guess there will always be another choice of computer: some make look better, but not sure until you get it. Kinda like marriage. You are committed to keeping it/him/her when "I do" takes place with Lenovo after 30 days and Costco 90 days. ha....

Bro, please check out the laptop before you buy it, if you hate taking apart things then this laptop isn't for you!

I just stopped at Costco and saw HP. I figured at that price and after reading the comments here this morning, I'll get one. I haven't opened it yet but it is marked I5 on the box label. My next question is what do you suggest to power it up and clean up the bloatware, etc. Is there a reliable link with this kind of info. Thanks for the alert.

If you are referring to me... I was responding to a response Smilie. The original guy wondered about current Costco unit and this one...

https://www.costco.com/dell-inspi...26297.html

I was merely suggesting, if use is a typical light use - best to go with the above system even if it is $100 more. It gets him/her touch screen functionality vs a bit faster processor. It would cost $100 to get the RAM and SSD up anyway, Should one 'upgrade' it can void the almost 4yr warranty.

My apologies for any confusion.

Read post 494 on bloatware.

Did you try post 494?

"To Sum it up for the jet engine fan problem:
1/ go to bios and disable fan always on
2/disable the following serives:
-HP Analytics service
-HP App Helper HSA Service
-HP Network HSA Service
-HP System Info HSA Service
-Windows Search
3/go to task manager -> Startup -> an disable HpseuHostLauncher too.

That's all I did, and my fan rarely turn on watching 1080p youtube video with cpu utilization between 5% to 8%... CPU speed is mostly running at 0.95GH

Please enlighten laymen folk like myself. You say slow but you originally said "quality of build, keyboard, and image "

This CPU and paired up with say 8 or 16GB memory and 512MB RAM won't get miraculously slow will it? If it will then that 1K laptop you recommend (likely running the same h/w) will too right?

Am I missing something?

My daughter currently runs the Lenovo Yoga 730 we spent $699 on last year. She has used it for 1.5 years. Its NOT slow. Barring the known screen flicker problem (which I fixed the 2nd time I think permanently now), there have not been any issues. It came with the i5 8 series and 8GB RAM along with a 256GB .m2 drive.

Hinges breaking, keyboard breaking I get but why will this be slow in a couple of years.
Um if your daughter got 700 bucks laptop why would she need a new one?

Also I said slow etc... which means things will break down and quality of build will suck if use for heavy use. You would need to know to know how to solder joints, battery plug issues , screen issues, wifi not working, ssd failures etc!

Went to Costco and bought one just to check if it is i5, and It is.
It is on the box.
I'll return this unopened after I receive my order from costco.com.

I just ran to the Costco and bought this.
I can confirm this one indeed has i5-1035G4, 10nm QUAD-CORE CPU.
With $279.99 price this is easily the most freakin' amazing deal of this year.

Yeah but know what you are getting into. The keyboard is meh and touchpad sucks. Also the fan noise is bad.

So they played 4D chess and purposely made people think that they got one over on them with the fake mistake of I3 vs I5 CPU. Forget that it's a cheap build. Look at the shiny CPU!
