Why you are suggesting to buy it nither this i7 or i9 , and even with i5 you must have to upgrade ssd and ram which will again cost 150 to 200 $ so total cost around 500$ ... And if something goes wrong during upgrade .. warranty don't cover .. do you still think this is a great deal , please comment.

Upgrading is just taking it apart and if you fried something just bring it back to costco with no answer ask!

$280 for this laptop
$100 for 1TB m.2 NVMe SSD https://www.amazon.com/Intel-660p...07GCL6BR4/
$60 for 16GB RAM https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-Si...B071KP8CGJ
=$440 you can't match those specs.

Those are the exact parts I used by the way.

Low settings is what I believe but we need someone to test if indeed gives full HD and smooth play.
"Intel suggests laptops with an Ice Lake CPU will be able to play select games in Full HD with a smooth performance. Fortnite and Dirt Rally 2.0 were name dropped as titles which should see respectable frame rates in played in Full HD, which is very impressive. Of course, for more demanding video games like The Witcher 3 or Shadow of the Tomb Raider, you'll still require a laptop with dedicated graphics card to see a solid performance."

Are you now on a clean install without wifi? And unable to install the drivers (formatting takes you back into S Mode, that was my experience)? If so, yes.
I was on a clean install without wifi, however it did not take me back to S Mode. I am on Win 10 Home with the latest 1909 version.

I was able to install the wifi driver and have wifi now because this driver is NOT specifically for windows 1903 on the HP website.

Drivers like the intel graphics and synaptics touchpad stated windows 1903 ONLY.

I am thinking I need to rollback to windows 1903 to get all these drivers to work, but I do not know how.

why would you keep it in windows s, just make it regular windows free per instructions

I would not do it. However, I would advise anyone to stay in S mode if they don't need to disable it. Makes OS more secure. Do you have those family members that you have to remove 7 browser tool bars every time you visit them.

So there's a huge sticker on the side of the box that has the specs. The only way I would be able to tell if it actually has an it processor is to open the box and boot thr computer up. Will costco allow me to return the laptop if I take the laptop out of the retail packaging?

If it has the sticker it has the processor.

I went straight to the merchandise pick-up window and asked the lady nicely if I could just see the side of the box before I purchase, because I needed to verify some specs. She grabbed it off the shelf and showed it to me so I could verify that it had the i5 CPU (it says so on the side of the box). I asked her to hold that specific box for me for a few minutes, then went to checkout to make the purchase. Went back to the merchandise pick-up window and picked up the box that she'd set aside.
EXACTY what I did. Worked perfectly. Most Costco workers want you to be happy so you like to shop in their store... Lots of pride at most locations.

Gotcha, when I used the Media Creation Tool, 1903 was still the latest, that was just over this weekend.

Has anyone checked that it is an actual full feature i5? Hasn't HP used "defective" chips in the past with less functional cores, etc... and just called it something else?

Having said that, the hype in this thread seems too high like you are getting it for free. What exactly is the savings compared to what you are upgrading to make it how you need anyway? Similar $300 i3 laptops happen all the time, and unless you have a reason to want an i5, you probably won't notice the difference.

I love you guys that think people won't notice the difference. However, the only two reasons I ever hear out of non-techies are it is "slow" or I broke it to upgrade. That said this is truly a deal for those that will crack it open. Put in 16gb dual channel 3200 and an Samsung nvme ssd.
