Infrequent updates could be looked at a couple different ways:

It's being neglected.
Updates are delivered cumulatively rather than on-demand resulting in fewer less frequent releases.
It's stable and feature complete.

Frequent updates can also be looked at a couple of different ways:

Actively supported and always up to date.
Buggy software development process requiring constant patching.
Buggy hardware requiring constant patching.
Buggy hardware and software requiring constant patching.

Given a choice, I'd rather have a stable platform that isn't being updated by the vendor vs a buggy platform that's always requiring me to update the firmware.
Different strokes for different folks. I prefer wired to wireless for devices that don't move around. People complain about crowded Wifi but then they have their Printer, Desktop, Xbox, and everything else on Wifi.

Can we expect mobo deals, or at least bundles with Ryzen 2700/2700x, for BF? I feel like just 10 bucks off may be too early to bite.

Asrock hasn't updated their bios on these boards since August. Other board manufacturers have updated multiple times since then. There's a reason this price is low.

I have this mobo. Highly recommend! Got mine at microcenter in a ryzen bundle though. Would check that out if you have one near you.

Good deal for standalone mobo though.

If this had wifi built in it would be a good deal. But getting a mobo with wifi is an extra 30$ which I find worth it imo

If you have a microcenter around, it's $49.99 as part of a Ryzen combo.

There's this Microcenter deal for the 2700x that also gives you $30 off bundle deal which would bring the cost of this specific mobo [microcenter.com] down to $50

Is there anything in particular the updates have added or fixed?

I can't find compatibility list for matisse line with memory. I have a ballistix elite 16gb 3600 kit I want to run with a R5 3600.

Sigh I really want to pull the trigger but there is a lack of support here that concerns me.

I assume this won't work with gen 3 out of the box, right? Would it be a good idea to pair it with 3700x? I'm looking for a mATX board, thanks!

I own this board and found that the most recent update 3.60 allowed it to boot with new memory. I had to put old memory in to get it started in order to update it. ASRock has yet to post a memory compatibility list for their ryzen 3000 series processors. they tell you to use the memory guide for an older series of processors but that list hasn't been updated in a long time.
