So at $44 for 2.5gal, that's $17.60/gal. Without the rebate, that's still a better deal than Walmart ~$21/gal (I think that's the price in store despite their website not showing it right now).
So even after buying 2 with the rebate, seems might be good to get a couple more at this sale price.
A few bucks cheaper then Walmart, good oil for turbocharged Subarus.
I don't think Walmart has the single 2.5 gallon though right? So if you only do it on the single gallon at Walmart then you can only buy two gallons with rebate where you can get 5 gallons with rebate at tractor
Can this be used in a 2018 BMW 328d? Does it meet their spec, or will it ruin the engine after 10k miles or less?
I checked earlier and it meets bmw and mercedes spec for certain diesels. I would say no issue in a diesel.
For gas engines it seems iffy, as the SN standard was removed in the latest formulation.
Here are the specific standards the 5w40 meets:
API: CK-4, CJ-4, CI-4 PLUS, CI-4, CH-4 ACEA E9, JASO DH-2, Cummins CES 20086; Volvo VDS-4.5; Detroit Fluid Specification DDC (DFS) 93K222, Caterpillar ECF-2/ECF-3, MAN M3575, JASO MA/ MA2, Allison TES 439, MB-Approval 228.31
Note that these are mostly heavy duty diesel standards.
I like this oil too and still have 3 jugs... but just bought a Jetta diesel and wonder if anyone else has found a deal on something that meets VW 507 spec?
Thanks OP, I have 2 VW GTIs that use this oil, and with the rebate and free shipping, this is an awesome price. That said, 2.5 gallons is A LARGE oil container.

Nice!!! Anyone know if I need to do the rebate for each of the two 2.5gal bottles or just once?
Just purchased this and already completed rebate. A few notes - yes, you only need to do the rebate once on the 2.5 gallon size, and the rebate is $17.50 - just once.
Also, if you have rebate sent to your Gmail, there's an option to print to PDF... which makes it super easy when you upload the receipt to the Shell Rotella website (proof of purchase required for rebate). So, you can purchase the oil, receive receipt within seconds to your Gmail, save to PDF, then fill out form with provided link in deal, and you've registered and are done within a few mins.
One last note... cash the check quickly! Shell only allows 60 days from DATE OF ISSUE to cash. So, by the time you receive and open mail, you might have 5 weeks max to cash check before it expires. Most issuers give you at least 90 days from date of issue.
Any specific wording that reflects if you can submit 1 request for 2 bottles or if you have to do 2 separate submissions? Wording I saw wasn't clear. I had two bad experiences with different products/companies when doing together so from now on I'll be doing separate.
The wording is a bit confusing. Anyone know if I purchase two 2.5 gallon jugs do I need to submit 2 rebates one for each. Or does one rebate cover me for both since my receipt shows 2 bottle purchased?

I've done the rebate for the 2.5 gallon size a number of times and submit two requests (online selection is for 1 each, with maximum of 2 submissions during the rebate period). I get a single check from Shell for the total as I submit both on the same date.
