-Simple Choice is NOT eligible. No, your account isn't special. It won't work. You have to change plans
-If you don't walk out of the store w/ the new Iphone in your hand, you will get bill credits. Which means you are stuck for 2 years and the extra you're paying for the line lessens this deal.
-Deal is $500 rebate for 6s phones, $700 for iPhone 7 and beyond. If you have an iPhone 6 or lower, you're getting no rebate. End of story. There are no loopholes or "what ifs".
-Phone screen can't be cracked. Not a "what about a little crack in the corner" comment. It will be rejected. Same goes for "what about a home button not working." Try it, but don't be surprised when it gets rejected. It's your $700 gamble. Stop asking if it will work.
-If your screen is cracked, get it fixed by a 3rd party place before sending in. It's typically less than $100
-Phone can be unlocked after 40 days w/ a request to Tmobile, and then used with any wireless service.
-Can't cancel line until you get your rebate; then go ahead and cancel or port out. Rebate takes 2-3 months to get
-Phone supports dual sim, so put your current ph# on the Esim (just go to a Tmobile store and ask) and the sim card with your new # in the phone. Yes, you can now have 2 numbers on new iPhones. Then you don't risk the phone # not being active while waiting for the rebate.
-If you want a cheap iPhone 7, look on the internet. Don't be lazy. Otherwise try a boost mobile store and read the "instore promo" offers on their website. Some are shady, so ask everything they're charging you for.
-Lastly, don't trust the Costco wireless reps. Hundreds of people here have done this and similar deals. They know better than any rep you will meet, as they've all done these deals.
My local store didn't have the iPhone 11 in stock and I was told I'd still get the GC rebate. After reading all the paperwork, when I got home, this isn't the case. Had to go back to cancel the line and wait for the phone shipment to arrive to go back and return that (which you have to mail yourself with the label provided). 2 weeks later, EIP is still on my account.
This is ABSOLUTELY wrong
ANY listed phone, ANY carrier.....as long as its in good condition and not icloud locked

Is it possible to cancel the new line of service after receiving the rebate without any penalties other than having to pay for the extra 2-3 months of service?

I cannot summit the rebate online because system said the imei number of the purchased phone is not valid. I bought a 11 pro black yesterday at costco.
The Tmobile rep at 877-470-3619 told me that a lot people are having this tech issue, she suggest i keep trying until there tech department fix it. She also suggest i should mail in the trade-in phone asap.
Went to Costco and rep told me that if I'm going to be doing this for an already active phone number on an iPhone 7 that I'd be trading in for a new iPhone 11, that I would be unable to cancel the new line for 6 months, or risk having to pay fees. This is bc I'm eventually going to be using the new phone on an already existing line.
I found this a little suspect, given I'm on TMO One, and I confirmed with TMO chat that there is no impact on my current plan should I cancel the line.
Anyone else hear of this limitation of 6 months when trying to pull the trigger on this deal using an already active number on a phone that you'd be trading in?
I mean, even if you have to go 6 months on an unused line, that still has you coming out ahead. Ideally, you'd just cancel the new line after the remaining amount rebate card is in hand...
And you could also go the route of the eSIM and physical sim for the overlap.
What am I missing here?
Thank you.

You can cancel once you get the big rebate card.
Personally, I did this deal for the XR last year.
I kept the lines open at least 90 days.
I visit my costco several times throughout the year so I want to keep a good relationship with these reps. I may even wait the 6 months as you mentioned just so they can get their commission. My add a lines are $20 a month so it's a small fee to keep the costco rep happy and take advantage of the next deal for the next future releases.

He said he wasn't fully sure, but was informing me in case things went sideways later and I'd be stuck with fees from TMO. Obviously they shouldn't be able to take away anything from the rebate card once it's issued, but a TMO charge for cancelling is a whole other issue.
Probably worth the risk. I'll take your suggestion into consideration about waiting 90 days also.
Thank you.
But we are not able to submit rebate online. Getting imei not eligible error. All are purple phones.
