This is the same model as the Costco 400 dollar TCL 55R613 so it is the 2018 TCL 6 Series. It's the best 400 dollar 55 inch TV that you can get right now in my opinion.

Vizio is rated slightly higher then this or even the 625. But I do like how Costco has extra year warranty. Price difference is only $80. Problem minimal difference but I haven't heard of panel lottery with Vizios, correct me if i'm wrong. Check out the rtings comparison to see which is better for you. I was looking at the 615 from Costco because of the warranty but I don't want to deal with the lottery.

I concur your Costco thoughts. I just bought it from Costco tonight. My Costco Citi card, extends warranty by another 2yrs.
On a side note, what is this "panel Lottery", that you speak of?

He's speaking of the vertical banding and dirty screen effect that these are (or were) prone to. Basically, the screen is not uniform and you can see shadowing artifacts during movement. I think that they got better after the first batch, so it may not be as big of an issue now. I just bought one and it will arrive Friday. Hoping for the best. Performance wise, this TV is great.

I was leaning towards the 6 series from Costco but $80 more and 1 year less warranty might be worth it for the Vizio. But to each their own, probably can't go wrong with either.

Both have their strengths and weaknesses. The thing I don't like about Vizio 4K TVs is their subpar upscaling of content lower than 1080p. It was a deal breaker for me, as I still watch cable/satellite TV quite a bit. Other than that, I think Vizio offers good picture quality for the money.

Hmm actually, I didn't look into that as that's probably 90% of my viewing content.
Maybe I should just save the dough and go with this TV at Costco then. Thoughts? Rtings has 480p and 720p rated a full point higher on the 615 than the M8. Not sure if that's a deal breaker.

I would get the TCL for sure if you watch cable/satellite that much. Also, the Roku smart system is better than Vizio's smart system. This TCL was one of the most recommended TVs of 2018. It was CNET's top pick, and they still recommend it: cnet [cnet.com]

615 = no voice remote
613/617 = voice remote
Otherwise identical.

The voice remote has the added benefit of being RF (not sure if it's wifi or bluetooth) but I like that you don't need to point it at the TV. I've never actually used the voice feature tho.

Thanks, that was my original pick. I don't even think I've touched 4K content yet.
I know that the 625 isn't enough of an upgrade to justify the cost. Costco perks make it that much better. I may sit on my purchase for now though and keep my eye on the M8 since the Costco pricing is good until Christmas.

Spot on here. I'm experiencing it now. 4K Netflix the bomb. 90 percent of my viewing on Comcast and upscaling blows
