QA Edit: The price will vary by store stock, zip code or location. Price seems to only be valid if your store has it in stock. If you don't see the OP's $40 price, try another store in your area or another zip code.

The Everbilt 26 Qt. Cooler is designed for river trips, camping, and other outdoor activities. The High-Density Polyurethane Foam insulation keeps ice for 3 to 5-days, with a no-sweat design eliminating condensation on the outside of the cooler. It features Rubber Pad non-slip feet to keep the cooler secure in your vehicle or boat. An interlocking no-fall lid stays up when you're unloading the cooler and carry handles fold away for easy packing in truck or raft. For easy transportation, a stainless steel comfort grip handle is built-in. A drain release is located at the base of the cooler so you can keep melted water out of the cooler and your food.

Premium insulation keeps ice for up to 5 days
Lockable lid prevents animals from getting access to your food or adult beverages
UV resistant exterior designed for extensive outdoor use, wherever your adventures take you
T-handle latches keep the lid secure and provide a water tight seal
Rotomolded, seamless 1-piece construction makes this virtually unbreakable
Built-in pressure release button to allow air into the cooler so that it's easier to open
Internal dimensions in inches are 16.1 in. D x 9.1 in. H x 11.4 in. W

For anyone interested in information from the Manufacturer, they've responded to some people's Home Depot ratings with this information:"Please refer to the ice retention chart on the main product page of our item or listed under the info and guides section as a product brochure. As you can see, the type of ice you use and the temperature outside can change the ice retention time. For best results, we recommend using block ice and keeping the cooler out of direct sunlight."
You can also get dry ice from many Walmart locations. Call ahead to verify.

Doing the math on posted internal dimensions, this Everbilt appears to have about the same internal volume as the Yeti Tundra 35. That Yeti costs $250 and this Everbilt is $40; IMO there is no way the Yeti is 6 times better!

From what I have read, the trick with these coolers -- if you want the ice to last a long time -- is to pre-chill them the night before (using some milk jugs of frozen water) prior to loading them up for deployment.
about $200 cheaper but performs the same
Yeti is just Louis Vuitton for men. These are just as functional.

I looked at one of these at my local home depot and for the exterior dimensions it didn't seem to have much interior space. I know that's kind of the rotomold design to keep ice longer but just seemed a little bulky. For $40 seems like a good enough deal to give it a try.

Got one. However the latches are insanely difficult. I pulled the pins out and flipped the latches around, this makes it allot easier to latch now

Fwiw: This appears virtually identical to the Wal-Mart branded version of it.

The HD I went to said 4 in stock, they were located where the BBQ's normally are by the mowers with other "Black Friday" stuff (most of the HD around me are setup similar in this manner, though the side of the store varies from left side to right, depending on location). They were all in boxes and there was a folded up sign showing the markdown for $39.99. There were some other coolers stacked next to these that were marked down to $59.99 but I didn't even try to open a box to look at those. I walked around the store a couple of times, asked multiple employees where the location was from the app and finally a manager told a guy where to find them. Being in the box threw us off but I saw the 26Qt on the side. The employee opened one for me and we had to pull it out of the box to scan because none of the barcodes on the box would show in the system.

I've been interested in a cooler like this for Kayaking and am glad to have gotten one. Thanks OP

Does anyone know if they make a wheel kit for this?

Something like this https://www.walmart.com/ip/Ozark-.../753017914

How strong / durable are these things? I'm actually looking for a cooler for my laptop. That is, if I have it sitting in the car in the Winter I want to protect it from the cold. I realize the cold in and of itself isn't bad per se, but don't want to power it up until it comes up to room temp-ish.

Also, I'm looking for something I can use when I'm taking a short bike trip. I'm not expecting my hardware to be saved if I get smashed by a speeding vehicle. But if I take a minor tumble I would like to see my hardware survive.

Anyone? Any thoughts??
Wat?

I don't think you understand how electronic products work.

Can you explain what you think might happen if you turn on your laptop when cold?

The latches on this thing seem like a pain in the ass to close, try it before buying you have to pull it down extremely hard for the "triangle" to fit
I have the Ozark comparable one and it's way easier to close/open just my .02

I don't follow what you did, but I think I would like to -- please elaborate.

My thoughts exactly! It takes some muscle to get those latches in. I had to wet the rubber for them to go in. I will try flipping them as you mentioned - thanks for the tip!
