The rain fly is supposed to touch the top of the tent then properly be pulled to cause tension to prevent water from collecting and simply roll off. This isn't a solution for all rain, it's to assist with rain that gets to the tent. No serious camper would ever trust JUST a rain fly provided by a tent company to waterproof their vent. The wind will ALWAYS blow rain under and around the fly. This is why you PROPERLY set up tarp above your tent to do the majority of the heavy lifting. Having a tarp under your tent isn't preventing rain from entering the top of your tent, which is where leaks are most common due to the waterproofing needing to be reapplied yearly.

I used a 10 person tent from ozark in extreme wind situations where trees were downed and a tornado formed in Maryland this year. Was it scary? Of course. Did water get in? Only where I failed to secure the fly properly. Again, user error. You only need to be in one rain storm while tent camping to learn how to properly create rain runoffs above your tent.

You're comparing a $75 14x10 tent to an REI that probably cost $200+. Learn to waterproof yourself. REI two person tent costs twice this tent, good luck finding an 8 person from REI for under $400 let alone a 10.

Again, user error. Learn to waterproof your tent properly and you won't have issues like this without a catastrophic failure. The reviews speak for themselves. It's always the 10-30 rep users who never contribute that come to trash every deal posted.

You didn't even own THIS tent and you couldn't help but comment. Apparently one bad experience means avoid the company at all cost? Did you return it? Do you have any correspondence with the company? You mean to tell me they didn't refund or replace it? Walmart return policy is absurdly good too. I'm not shocked to see you have zero deals posted in 8 years. It's pretty typical.
There are a ton of variables when it comes to water proofing a tent. You should always treat your tents prior to using them to reinforce their waterproofing. You should also always have a rain fly or tarp set up to held mitigate the direct downpour and water collection in sagging spots. User error is 99% of waterproofing errors when tamping based on my decades of camping.

Any tent not properly secured with appropriate stakes and para-cord will suffer the same fate. These aren't going to nail themselves down. User error plays a huge role in these situations. But yeah, I wouldn't take a huge 10 person tent into a high wind situation. It's a recipe for disaster. If I know winds are going to pick up, I make sure all my heaviest gear is anchoring the corners, such as coolers, clothing bags, grills, etc. This helps with taking some of the work off the stakes that are in wet soil from rain during storms. But again, proper anchoring and removing any sagging in the tent will cause the wind to roll off when properly set up with most tent, but a 10 person tent is not as structurally sound for those situation due to their size.

Huge part of camping is using the right equipment for the job. You should always be aware of wind/weather conditions ahead of time. Pack appropriately. Save yourself the headache.

Dang. Was hoping it was an instant tent. Sadly, it's not.

I have this tent, got it for $90 from an outlet store a few months back. It's a bit difficult to set up without help, and I wish the door had a "frame" like some do (with an extra tent pole to give it some ridgidity), but instead has flaps to cover the zipper that easily get stuck in said zipper.

No other complaints, but haven't used it but once so can't speak to much else. I think it's definitely worth the $75 if you like to glamp.

I have the same tent and another 10-12 person tent that is also not an instant pop up. I have set it up by myself countless times, but it's not like it's a 2-5 person tent that obviously sets up in a lot less time. It should go without saying that the bigger the tent, the longer it will take one person to set up.

I've never had an issue with setting it up myself, but just like setting up any camp site, the more hands the quicker the job gets done.

My brother bought this last spring. We went camping at a local lake, and one evening the winds picked up. This thing went from Ozark Trail to Ozark Sail. No stability and ripped to shreds.

Had this brand of tent before and after getting soaked and sleeping in the car I decided never again. Bought an REI tent and am much happier

Wrong. We had a tarp on the ground, seam sealed the tent. The design of the provided fly was bad and did not cover the ends enough. The design also did not prevent the fly from contacting the tent. This brand is crap. Buyer beware. I guess if it never rains moderate to severe where you camp you'll be fine but one bad experience was enough for me.

Run your finger ahead of the zipper when closing. I had the same problem.
