All over the description in Amazon it says max 10 amps....so no I wouldn't. A space heater isn't really one of those things to just try it and see what happens....especially if you leave the house, are sleeping or even in the other room! If you still decide to do it...look for a good deal on the zwave smoke detectors too! Smilie
Agree; Kasa app is very stable and smartlite is for all those questionable Chinese configured and built plugs that are not UL approved. Yes I know UL is not a gov inspection / certification process but is a private lab that you can submit products to to verify some level of safety!
I think the claim that is shady is because people found that plugs using the app were transmitting large amounts of data over the internet. Plus some of these plugs have very questionable privacy policies. That's enough for most people to categorize it as shady.

I have a smart plug for outdoors that uses the Smart Life app and connects to Alexa. Are these and other smart plugs compatible with Smart Life? I don't want 10 apps to initialize these things so I can connect them to Alexa.

No. Smart Life app is a bit shady though, and I trust the electrical certification on these more.

So is the official Amazon Smart Plug the only one that works directly with Alexa and doesn't require set up in some sketchy third party app?

One other comment about some of the offbrands that use the smartlite app. I have a few of those small round plugs and they get hot in small enclosures; so be careful where you use those untested plugs. I have stoped using them!

I believe it maxes out at 1500 watts so if your heater spikes at startup; you may have an issue! I checked one of my existing and has max 15A output so you are good there! Give it a try for $19.99

So you're using a 15 amp heater with these exact smart plugs and everything is okay? Works fine ?

This is a great deal. We have many of these in our house, and they work flawlessly. We wish we could have paid this low price!

How is it compared to the "'Tuya" app?
