This thermostat requires a "C" wire, no exceptions.

We have this. It's fantastic. Does everything it's supposed to. It's also the only device I've installed that automatically meshed with Alexa seamlessly, if your into that. The app works well.

We also use google home and have NOT been able to fully integrate the thermostat, shows as linked but Google will say it's not set up. Saw online that it's an issue for many. Both companies seem to think the problem lies with the other side.
Since we mainly use Alexa I haven't bothered trying to fix the Google issue.

Don't forget to check with your utility company for possible rebates!

Good Info. Do you know if it will sense if no one is in the room and will shut off say A/C? I have a central mini-split system for 3 rooms. Not sure if I can put one in each room and have it shut off that room if no one is in it. I am looking to tie it to SmartThings so if an exterior door or window is open it will not turn on. Any idea if that is possible? TIA

Google has issues with its Nest thermostat connecting to their system as well. Ironically, it hooked up to Alexa easier. If I could, I would return it and buy this

Why not zWave thermostats? They have seemed to stop making updates to zwave models, incl Honeywall. These wifi things all take more power, make more heat, and will break sooner bc they all run hotter. Smart houses are better with these lower power more reliable protocols like zwave zigbe etc. Plus all these items add up in power usage, wifi takes much more power for each device.

Check with your local gas and electric utilities. With AEP Ohio you can get this for $69 right now.

Agree, maybe because it's "special buy" at Home Depot from $199?

Glad to hear it's a good unit but I'd be more interested if it was about $75...

The Honeywell unit doesn't have motion or person detection. It's just a (very nice) thermostat.

Since it can be controlled by the Alexa universe, you could probably rig a motion detector to it, somehow.

A lot of DOA reviews and having to send the unit back in several times. Seems like quality is lacking here.

I have this thermostat and use Alexa BUT you CANNOT turn the thermostat on or off. You can adjust temp easily via Alexa.
