Sounds like it maybe spreading then. Trying to get the lowest rate plus the AMEX credit maybe almost over. Guess it's a good thing this deal lasted so long then and is about to wrap up.

There are two departments now - one handling AMEX and another handling non-amex matches. The quotes are different. Jonathan from the non-amex dept verbally agreed to give me the maximum 4k match..which was immediately rescinded after my file was sent back to the amex team. My quote was 6k off from loan depot and that was that. Lucky for those who got through but this amex pricematch gig is almost up.

Just a data point to add.. WM quoted me a 2.75 w 2800 in credits (but wm had 1500 orig fee). Better was not able to price match the lender credit but did pm a+b+c .... Went with WM since had larger credit than amex promo.... YMMV

Maybe the key is to act quickly? My quote was probably more than 6K, and it was accepted within hours. I just got the match 2 days ago.
Maybe our relationship with Amex is relevant? I've had a long relationship with them and put a lot of spend on some cards (category grocery).
I also was not new to Better either. I opened up an account with them for some easy money a year or two ago.

Perhaps before they start shuffling your file back and forth to different accounts. The AMEX team got hold of my account first before my scheduled talk with the non-amex rep. Had the non-amex rep generated the LE things may have been different b/c they can't backtrack from a paper LE.

Relationship with AMEX is non-relevant. I have 25+ years with them. I was also new to better. Whether you get better match or not is a luck of the draw. I had Mak (who everyone advocates on this forum) and still didn't get the match. I also initiated this last Friday - and plenty have gotten matches on Monday/Tues.

If I were to provide advice on how to initiate the process with better.com now since so many are rejected...I would first go through the normal channel (non-amex), get a loan estimate, and then ask them to add the AMEX credit afterwards. While this may not work, I think this gives you a chance especially since they can't backtrack from the LE once it's on paper.

It's risky though so prepare for some headaches.

I just locked the rate with Better by matching LE from Sebonic also got confirmation in writing on Amex 2500 offer added to the application. Paid $550 for the appraisal for the lock but that will be refunded as I approach the closing. I got 2.25 for 15 year fixed refi, A+B+C+E=2682 and lender credit of $3634. I think it depends on the LO you get.

That's a nice rate! $3634 lender credit includes $2500 amex credit or that is going to be a separate credit?

It's separate from lender credit, he said it will be a statement credit.
