Me too. Another $50 price drop and I might have to bite.

Fam member has a 5+ year old MacBook Pro. Uses laptop to browse internet, check email and very basic stuff. Would this be appropriate replacement? How does the screen compare to an older MacBook Pro?

Apologies if this is a stupid question, but how would one go about reinstalling windows either for a hard drive upgrade or virus corruption? When my kids get viruses on their desktops I often find it easier to just reinstall windows rather than trying to remove them.

Download windows 10 to usb from Microsoft directly it will activate automatically during install. Use a usb mouse to control laptop during first boot and perform a windows update to get the touchpad driver and install the basic amd hardware support files.

Newbie question on this laptop....I know one of the limiters to its performance is the single channel 8gb ram it has. So, could I potentially upgrade that sometime to a single 16gb ram chip to bump up the performance of it?

I have an old Dell Inspiron 13 2-in-1 tablet that seems to be showing its age and on the fence to get this one. I don't use my current laptop but here and there, however I am always on the lookout for an upgrade.

Has anyone attempted a full linux install on this? That would be my purpose for buying this, but driver support would be a concern.

People... to make it clear... if you expect to get the quality, on the level of Dell XPS 13, with solid feeling, rock stable keyboard and no flex in chassis anywhere... hmmm you are in for a big disappointment... this is a very cheaply made of plastic, with sub-mediocre components, laptop. Set your expectations accordingly.

Haha thanks dude glad my pics are getting spread around! 😅
Q: Does the R5 come with 1x 256gb SATA, or 2x 128gb SATA?

I ask because a walmart.com review says it' s a single drive while your pics have the 2x128s. Wouldn't put it past you to swap some around your handful of these though... laugh out loud

If it's there, McAfee. Any other non-Windows security software really, but it seems to only be McAfee these days. Uninstall, reboot, check for any remaining listings, repeat until all traces are gone.

Besides that, there's probably nothing else. This is a Walmart rebrand and the most they'll add to it is a link to Walmart, if at all.

If there is any THX stuff, there might be a THX utility that loads at startup, but you could just disable it at startup using Task Manager, shouldn't be necessary to uninstall it.

Bought it and returned it. Slower than you would think for the specs. Issues I had is what others have, black screen over and over and over. Restarting, 3 to 5 times to be able to use it.

Imho, get a trusted brand this is garbage

Nothing to lose by trying this out for $300. In for one. Returning if blah.
