had to return laptop to walmart.
went into a sleep state several times while using.
could not get support.

There were a lot of these laptops un-purchased at Walmart on Black Friday.
I should have known better.

Uh-oh. I haven't gone that far yet. Did you install Windows 10 Home? It's possible that a BIOS/UEFI update could mess up the Windows activation. The digital license is stored in the ACPI tables, which is managed by the BIOS/UEFI. This issue has been documented elsewhere. [hp.com]

The black one pick-up date is 12/23 for me in my area. I won't have it till another week at least... Sucks I know but after having the silver one I think I like the black color more. The poor contrast between the letter on the keyboard and the surrounding coloring is pretty bad especially when the LED is on.

Still wondering if anyone can provide the tuned by thx color profile. It is gone after reinstalling windows and it isn't available in either of the driver packages. The screen is warmer looking than my Costco $280 hp.

You can use the AMD Radeon Software (download it if you dont have it)
There are several video profiles to choose from that will give you various color options.

By "Pre-Amp" I meant EQ. There is a slider for the EQ under each sound profile.
Make sure the slide is turned on, it defaults to off.

how do you update the audio driver? i downloaded from their website but it has .Z extension and dont know what to do.

That's not the same as a color profile tuned for this laptops panel. The difference likely negligible but the ocd me wants to have it.

Could you give a quick comparison/evaluation of the two?

I absolutely hated the HP, but my essential cheapness is making me want to buy the Motive. I"m a noise-hater, and the "silent" feature is really attractive to me. I want a big improvement over the HP. Could this be it, or should I just give up and spend more?
