I am sure if you wait even more till 2021 or better 2022 BF, there will be even better electronics. 😛

As I understand it you have to update the bios to get the basic configuration as default but you lose the ability to adjust the keyboard brightness. Next changing over the wifi is easy. its small kinda in the middle of center some. hopefully you should have the replacement as a guide to its appearance.>peel back the black tape the secures the 2 antennas . Pull the wires straight up not sideways or up or down, just up. pops out easily. Unscrew single screw at bottom and the card kinda springs up at a 45 within the port. pull it out gently along the connection port in parallel, it slides out easily. Ok now reverse everything. I like to use tweezers that are for electronics( no electrical discharge) , dont drop screws on board although they look kinda coated so might not be a problem
TY. i read somewhere about removing battery before swapping out the parts. is that possible/necessary?

does anyone know what kind./where to get a screw for this laptop? I lost one, and it does make a difference as there are only 6.

After a week with this, I am starting to get annoyed at the instabbility of the HDMI video output. my external monitor keep getting blanking out intermittently.

Anyone else having this same problem? wondering if i should order another one...i am using the latest amd driver, not from motile but from amd site.
Not sure if this is the same problem... when I first switched to Dell Ultrasharp monitor, the screen would unexpectedly shut off (go black) for a second then come back on. Every now and then. Annoyed the hell out of me.

Someone suggested changing the cable. I scoffed at the idea, but tried it anyway... It worked!

I was using HDMI out/in... and had just grabbed any old HDMI cable I had sitting around.

it would be better if you did but I didnt want to mess with more then I had to. Shut the laptop down use your fingers only to pull UP wires dont let ends touch anything on board and the most difficult part with regard to shorting out board is dont drop the one and only screw that holds the card in place

Anyone noticed that the power button LED is glowing when the laptop is on? Shouldn't the LED stay solid instead?
blinking led indicates the state of the fan, silent mode or basic mode

For me, I discovered that the sleep switch was popped out of its socket, and that was the reason why wake/sleep on lid open/close wasn't working. 4 screws to lift up the battery and placing it back fixed it.
To clarify, once you put the switch back it sleeps and wakes with closing / opening the lid?
Or does it still only sleep but not wake?

isnt vid watching pretty standard to kill battery life? it would destroy my macbook
A bit but I think it's a bit extreme on this laptop. On my Macbook battery life drops by 25% if I'm watching a lot of YouTube. On this it seems to drop by 50%.

Great tip on the Edge Beta though! I've already noticed general improved battery life compared to Chrome. I'll be curious to see how it handles it YouTube specific battery life

I did some comparison in SiSoft Sandra with the Costco HP 14-1033cl with the i5-1035G4. I tested at the stock 4gb and with 2x8GB G.Skill DDR4-2666.

The dual channel really helps the HP. The Vega 8 GPU in the Ryzen still beats the Iris Plus in the i5 in the GP-GPU test. I'm not sure what the video test is really testing though.

I will try another cable but it just concerning because this cable and this monitor worked fine with an HP laptop

sleep when lid close but does not awake when lid is open. has to press key to wake. it's a known thing. update the bios doesn't change that. I

if you have it in basic fan mode, the fan is always on in higher state. in silent mode, its barely noticeable in light task and is off sometimes when on battery

looking to potentially pick up a new laptop for my wife, as her old one is getting a little old and slow. she basically uses it for crafting (cricut), office and internet browsing / youtube...with some occasional web design thrown in. is this a better deal for her at $329 or should i go for the ryzen 3?

When I turned on sound blaster mode, I noticed the fan ran like the jet engine. If fan is bothering you, you might wanna turn all the sound blaster mode off.

Ordered Dec 15 for delivery Dec 20. Received FedEx notification Dec 18 via text alerting me signature required for delivery Dec 19 by end of day. End of day Dec 19 status changed to: Scheduled Delivery: Pending. No change since. No longer holding my breath for holiday delivery. I can see why Amazon stopped using FedEx. Last status update was Dec 16 in Davenport FL. I'm in Minnesota.

Edit: checked the order on Walmart's site and last update was the same, Dec 16 in Davenport FL. It does say my order is "delayed" which is more than FedEx will say.

Matt, I can't speak for everyone (needs and budget are different) but here is what I would do. Why not future proof for some extra money? This one has better processor, double RAM and double storage. Also someone mentioned that since 2GB is reserved for graphics card, this model has 6 GB effective usable RAM vs. only 2GB in case of ryzen 3 machine (so 3x effective RAM). If this is true then R5 is better choice.

Since the cheaper one is only $70 less than this one it's a no-brainer - get the 5.
