this is becoming an insanely good deal. it was a good deal at 399, better at 349. and now 299? it's one of those slickdeals i'm tempted to buy even though i dont need it!
I am sure if you wait even more till 2021 or better 2022 BF, there will be even better electronics. 😛
Review for the laptop [notebookcheck.net]

Seems to be 2 M.2 slots and 1 DDR4.

That has happened to me twice already too. Anyone one have any ideas what it could be?

one of my screws got stripped on corner...located near the THX logo. tried rubberband trick...didnt work. any suggestion?

despite that, i was able to get to the RAM and successfully installed 16 GB RAM. this is what i installed...
https://www.amazon.com/Patriot-3000MHz-SODIMM-Memory-Module/dp/B07QNS88J8/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=16GB+s... [amazon.com]

laptop recognizes it.."Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 16.0 GB"
is there anything i should set different to get optimal performance?

i also got a wifi card to swap out, but there appears to be a screw i need to loosen that holds it in place. i'm tempted to try to get to it...gonna hold off until i can completely remove the bottom panel.

Mine FINALLY arrived today. Florida to WA in 8 days.

Was a little disappointed to find the folks in the shipping department just threw the computer in a box twice its size with no packing material - not even paper fill. But hey, it's the holidays so maybe they ran out.

Like any new computer I get the first thing is to make an image of the OEM installation so it's easy to go back to as-shipped condition. That took about 5 minutes with Macrium Reflect. Color me impressed.

Next was OOBE. As I usually do I create an off-line account (I NEVER use Microsoft accounts) and finishing that took about four minutes.

I then did an in-place upgrade to build 1909. Saves a TON of time with installing updates to older builds. With most computers I usually blow out the OEM installation but with all the comments on no bloatware I decided to keep the files and settings. About six minutes start to finish. Never had this get done so fast.

Next was Windows Update. Ran it twice to be sure it got everything. Total time: around 15 minutes.

Final step is to get a second disk image with all the updates installed. Again, about five minutes.

So I went from unboxing to a fully updated unit in about 40-45 minutes. . I decided not to update the BIOS, EC or change out any hardware for now - want to see how it performs as shipped.

Overall I'm really impressed with this computer. As others said the lid is of some durability concern and you'll never mistake the keyboard for a ThinkPad. And unless you're in Silent mode the fan is LOUD!! But the light weight and strong performance means it's my new go-to laptop for traveling.

Hi, would you mind share any link, tips or tutorial how to create image? I am already using laptop for a week now. No knowledge or experience about this process. Only program installed is chrome browser but nothing else. No bios or OS upgrades. Can I still make an image of the OEM installation? Just in case if anything happens then to go back to as-shipped condition. Any help appreciated.

I have the same 16g RAM installed on my R3, the system recognized it and rn it as 2400Mhz, which (the frequency) is the highest the cpu can support.

You won't be able to make an *as-delivered* image since you've already gone through the setup. The closest you'll be able to do is reset to factory settings. Instructions here:
https://www.laptopmag.com/article...dows-10-pc

To get back to factory settings do NOT keep your files and settings.

Once the reset is complete do NOT reboot the computer. That's when you do the disk image. There's a lot of programs that can do that - Macrium Reflect Free is my app of choice but some like Clonezilla Live that works out of the box with any computer.

no oil. get a Phillips screw driver that fits perfectly, large handle for comfortable gripping power. hold driver square up on screw, press down firmly and turn slowly

ok maybe dumb question, but if windows is able to reset the computer whats the point of doing an initial image , if it does the same thing?? hard drive crashes and you want to reinstall??? is the only thing I can think off?

I do the initial image so I have the configuration that the computer was shipped from the factory. Just a preference of mine. Doing the full reset then imaging will get you basically the same result.

Having some battery issues with mine after about 4 days of use. I fully charge it to 100% then it will run for after about 10 minutes and then completely drain. Any ideas?

HAVE you tried thicker paper like envelope, or a slotted screw driver ???
