this is becoming an insanely good deal. it was a good deal at 399, better at 349. and now 299? it's one of those slickdeals i'm tempted to buy even though i dont need it!
I am sure if you wait even more till 2021 or better 2022 BF, there will be even better electronics. 😛
Review for the laptop [notebookcheck.net]

Seems to be 2 M.2 slots and 1 DDR4.

i just started having freezing issue (twice) past few days. each time it occurred when i was typing a URL in Chrome.any thoughts?

is holding power button to force shutdown the only way to fix?

also considering using new Chromium Edge as my default browser when it is released on January 15th. any thoughts there?

Ditto on the freezing issue. Had a couple of Chrome tabs open and the thing froze and then went to black. Only option was to restart it. Not sure if it is Chrome or something else. Happened to me a few days ago too using Chrome. The fans were also spinning pretty loudly too.

Edit: Whoops, just realized I have the Ryzen 3 version and I posted in the Ryzen 5 version thread. Point still stands though.

I would clear out all the cache and temp files in chrome, and check what extensions are running. I haven't had a chrome freezing issue for several weeks now. It was happening when I first got the laptop. Unfortunately, I am not sure exactly when or why it stopped.

I have done 2 bios updates, video drivers updates etc... since the last time that happened on mine.

My Motile laptop has been running very well since I updated drivers and bios etc...
The one intermittent issue that remains, every once in a while, when running minecraft will blue screen the device and reboot. It's not constant and seems random. when it does happen, it is shortly after opening and loading up a game. The last time it happened, I opened the radeon software and set up a profile for it and it has not happened since, but I need more testing to be sure.

So sifting through 90 pages here, can this do any modern gaming? I mean, I know it's not running COD on high, but can it run more than Minecraft at passable levels?
Probably with eSports titles like Rocket League you'll be fine. Anything that requires any real power forget about it since the RAM is only single channel.

If you want a decent gaming laptop (with a GTX1650) at this size/weight you have to go for either the Razer blade or the MSI Prestige 14. Either will cost you about $1500. This is a great machine for CK2 though.

It's been mentioned several times, this is not a gaming laptop. If gaming is a high priority you need to be looking at heavier, more expensive devices that can handle the load. My best advice at this point, would be to hold out for a ryzen 4000 series laptop if gaming is a priority, that, or a gaming specific laptop with a dedicated gpu. Either way, it's going to cost more to game decently on a laptop.

This motile laptop is a budget ultrabook. Emphasis on small, light, portable. perfectly acceptable for regular applications in windows, or linux.
This is perfect for what I need, it was just a bonus if I could play somewhat modern games on a plane or something. Just curious. I started reading the pages and after page 15 figured I'd just ask.

I've gotten gta5, csgo, Batman Arkham games, doom running playable. Most at 720p on low with ~50fps. Csgo I got to 900p at 60fps. Pubg runs like crap and is probably the worst I've tried.

I tried to reproduce the issue with Motile waking from sleep unexpectedly by laying another magnetic laptop on top, moving it around, etc. - and couldn't reproduce. Yet it happened many times already, especially in the bag. So, here's my simple solution: I assigned Power Button to Hybernate. Now, when I'm going to close the lid and put the laptop in the bag, I press power button first to hybernate it. If I'm just leaving laptop on the desk, I just close the lid to sleep it.

I kid, I kid. However I only saw two games listed in the wiki, that is why I asked. Do you see something different?

So as you guys know I gave you the warranty info and have been doing lots of digging and research into these laptops. My research isn't finished, but I want to show you some of what I've found and there will be a follow-up post with more.

So, some of you already knew this was a Tongfang based chassis. I'd like to show you all the similar laptops using this chassis, because it'll give us lots of info on things like reviews from users from months ago, drivers, spec details we may not have known, longevity/quality, and more.

So let's begin!

More info to come! I think this will help us all learn lots about upgradability, parts, future of Motile line, and more. It's possible parts that we can find for the above may be usable for Motile owners.
To add some more data to your research:

The chassis for the Motile Ryzen 5 is the TONGFANG PF4 model.

There are 3 models that I have found so far using this chassis:

PF4WN2F - Intel Core I5/MX250 graphics
(https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/no...ionIII-14/)

PF4MN2F - Intel Core i7 8th/10th/MX250 graphics
https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/no...sionIV-14/

PF4PU1F - AMD Ryzen 5/Vega 8
(used by Motile - haven't confirmed if Ryzen 3 is same model number)

I have seen screenshots of the insides of the 14" Intel models and some have dual cooling fans.
I would love to get my hands on that and modify it for this AMD model Smilie

Our chassis also has a BIG brother 15" model (WITH A 91wh battery that I was hoping would fit the 14" chassis):
PF5WN2G - Intel Core i7 8th/MX250 graphics (Eluktronics sells this as the Mag-15u)
PF5MN2G - Intel Core i7 10th/MX250 graphics (Mag-15u, etc)
PF5CP5G - Intel Core i7 9th/GTX1650 graphics/4k (I want this one Smilie )

Mag-15u battery 91.24WH:
PFIDG-03-17-3S2P-0

Motile laptop battery 46.74WH:
PF4WN-00-13-3S1P-0
