this is becoming an insanely good deal. it was a good deal at 399, better at 349. and now 299? it's one of those slickdeals i'm tempted to buy even though i dont need it!
I am sure if you wait even more till 2021 or better 2022 BF, there will be even better electronics. 😛
Review for the laptop [notebookcheck.net]

Seems to be 2 M.2 slots and 1 DDR4.

I cannot use my nvme in slot 1 (originally occupied slot), bios wont even recognize it. Anyone have any clues why? I can use it in slot 2.
That's weird bc both suppose to support nvme. wondering if there's something different about that particular nvme you have.

Everything is fully updated via windows update. So it did install some updated AMD stuff.
I noticed the problem in the last three days. The month before was fine.
That's weird... but no other issues? restart and shutdown using windows menu fine? how about using the sleep option in windows menu? does this wake from sleep screen problem happen every time now or just intermittently?

The video of the heat sink at 2.14 is a little unnerving.
They used too much low quality thermal paste.
They also used aluminum instead or copper!

Slot 1 is not compatible with nvme.

It is. I tested it myself as well as several other people.

Here's a video of Adata SX8100 nvme drive in the slot 1:

Both slots are supposed to accept Nvme drives, however there have been cases where a known good working nvme device refuses to work in the original drive slot. This was the case with mine, when I installed a Sabrent Rocket 4.0 1TB device. Moving it to slot 2 results in a working configuration, but it is a x2 slot, so that does hold back performance some. I would love to figure out what keeps faster drives from using slot 1.

OK,

I think I figured something out. When you remove the original SSD, it takes a boot cycle in windows for that slot to accept and show an Nvme drive in the x4 slot. This is why my machine failed to accept the Sabrent Rocket on slot 1 the first time I tried it. I was going directly from SSD to Nvme without completing a boot cycle, as I was using a cloned drive.

I just move the Nvme drive from slot 2 to slot 1 and now it is seen as a Pcie x 4 slot, and crystal diskmark scores show the jump in sequential performance, nearly doubling in throughput from the x2 slot.

are you able to install two nvme ssd and test if the x4 speed is maintained in slot 1 and x2 is maintained in slot2 at the same time? I heard rumor that if you have 2 nvme drives, slot 1 is downgraded to x2

I saw an earlier post for the ZMI charger ( https://www.amazon.com/ZMI-zPower...07D64QLQ1/ ) that I was considering getting myself because it's so small.
It was out of stock for a while and now back in stock. I got one in the mail today and unfortunately it;s gonna get returned. couldn't keep up with the motile. When i play this test 4K video to my 4K monitor full screen it keeps flipping between battery and plugin status:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=onOEns_MnC4

This video really tax the system.

I got a zerolemon usb c charger which is also listed in this thread wiki and the motile never flip in and out of the plugin status. hooking a usb meter, i saw reading of up to 66W momentarily sometimes. even thougn the usb c port for the zerolemon is supposed to be only 60w it can supply momentary 66w no problem

the zmi unfortunately never was able to give any reading close to 60w bc it keeps disconnect power when the demand gets high.

when you press windows key + P, you will an option to connect to wireless display; if you monitor or TV supports, then you can display the laptop screen on the device without connecting to HDMI

BTW I'm on bios 1.06 and ec 1.08, also my nvme in slot 2 is running through sata and not pcie like it should. Crystaldiskmark is showing speeds slightly worse then the included sata ssd. I have another nvme coming in a day to test, until then i appreciate any feedback

it should shows interface of pcie x2. the speed should be at least as good as a sata m2. not sure what's going on there.
