For the benefit of the impluse buyer, read this first. I did a bit of research on this bike and the consensus is that at the common sale price of $299, it's appropriately priced for what you get. This normally sells for $399, not the $699 listed on dick's site, and for what you recieve the quality is closer to the 299 mark than it is the 399 mark.

Other than that it seems like a fairly well received bike for the price.

Should I get this or get a hybrid bike: https://www.dickssportinggoods.co...mntb15xfbb

Need a budget friendly commute bike. New to bikes, appreciate the help. Thanks!
Get the hybrid for commuting. No need to deal with the added weight of a junky coil-sprung front fork.

Been mountain biking for about 20 years now and here is my opinion. For anyone looking to start or "dip their feet" into mountain biking local trails, this is an excellent choice. One of the best bang for the buck type of deal on this model. PLEASE stay away from those cheap Walmart and Target bikes near this price range. Those are actually dangerous to ride and you have to trust some minimum wage guy to put your bike together. This Slickdeal is a much better buy. If you get serious and go riding trails more than once a week, you will eventually upgrade to something better anyways. At least this bike has mid-range components and will perform fine until you get more aggressive and hit harder trails. Like someone else said, after you buy this bike it is worth taking to a legit bike shop to have everything adjusted and double-checked that it was put together correctly.

I have this. It's a pretty good bike for $300. If you can afford it, I'd go for the Nishiki Colorado for $450. It has a 1x drivetrain.

Have one. It's ok. It was poorly assembled so I've had a lot of issues with the derailleur, shifter and pedals. Fortunately, Dick's threw in the 3 yr warranty for my troubles so I'll get my $260 out of this bike. Just know, you'll probably be happier with a $400 REI outlet special.

Serious question: Anyone know the weight limit for this bike? (19" version if that helps.) I don't see it mentioned on the site.

Bought this earlier in the year, good basic bike. My chain kept falling off as well had to bring it back to have the tech check everything. It's working well after the staff adjusted it. I also can confirm I was also get 20% off back earlier this year by calling them and asking for it. It took 4 -5 tries.
