Seriously, if you need a magnesium enclosure and a $100 DYI for a lightweight dual-core machine with 36GB RAM, this is probably it! Sadly, the new T490 isn't magnesium (only the reinforcement is), and T490s is still magnesium, but doesn't have any sockets (so, the sales would probably be limited to a total of 8GB for a while).
Personally, I think T480s would be a better option — it's same weight, also had one socket, but is quad-core; it's also been on sale recently, although for quite a bit more than T470s. Quite sad that T490s doesn't have any DDR4 sockets.
I believe this model probably has the "45W slim tip AC adapter".
Again wouldn't consider anything less than an 8th gen... Best laptop performance jump since SSDs

I have a 6200 laptop and it can output 4k via HDMI but only at the lightest and lowest bitrate making it unusable for decent 4k output, this is why I want to upgrade but laptop prices were SHIT this season.. most with dedicated gpu were over $1k.. f that!! Greedy bastards..
The processor is 4 generations old, I've seen deals on computers with both the current gen AMD Ryzen Processor Equivalent (Ryzen 5) and the 9th/10th gen intel i5 with the same amount of RAM and SSD storage (and more) for this price and less.
This is not a good deal, this is buying old hardware for way more than it's worth.

It's tough to compare a think pad t series or dell latitude to a consumer level machine. Just purchased 4 of these for a practice.
