The Dongle allows you to use more than one XBox One controller connected to the PC but mainly allows the use of headsets connected to the 3.5mm port of the wireless controller as well.
Latency via this wireless solution is supposedly better than the Bluetooth-only of the Xbox One controller
The dongle has less latency, more range, and most importantly allows you to use the microphone and headset plugged directly into your xbox controller headphone jack.

Pretty important for a living room pc setup, it allows you to take your controller and headset to the couch with no headache whatsoever. But if you never leave your pc and have your headset hooked up to your pc this will be almost useless to you. might as well use bluetooth.

tldr: depends on whether you like to sit on the couch or in front of your pc.

Pretty good deal, considering that the wired model (without the adapter obv.) usually goes for about $60
What? Which wired one?

I need a new controller. What's so special about this ? A regular Xbox one controller will pair with my pc. Why the need for the dongle? What am I missing?

I got a fairly new laptop 1 year ago and a new Xbox wireless controller would not pair with it until I used the bluetooth adapter.

Finger is on the trigger, but I'm wondering if this is a good deal for my use case. Mainly I'd connect it to my android device for gaming and emulators. Maybe sometimes pc. Is this really a good deal?

If u don't need the dongle u can probably find a controller for about 39 bucks but I don't recall ever seeming it lower then that. Other then that this is a good the the wireless less receiver alone is about 24 regular price and works very well with pc

It's the former and I'd love to have another PC adapter. PM me and I'd be glad to cover shipping.
