HP Pros
- synthetically faster, graphics dont use up RAM
- two ram slots. It can run with 32 gigs for sure (i tried it), potentially 64 gigs?
- objectively better screen, definitely brighter. I cannot understate this
- easily wifi-6 upgradable since functionality is already in the CPU. Even its AC wireless is faster
- full-sized SD card slot
- considering you got this from costco, youll have MUCH MUCH better support. Minimum two year warranty, 90 day returns, probably two more years if you used citi card.
- subjective, but I find the keyboard much more usable on the HP with its island keys.
- Theoretically you can add a 2.5" drive to the HP with the purchase of a cable off of ebay. Considering how much cheaper these drives than their M.2 counterparts, this may be a pro.
Motile Pros
- two m.2 slots
- more competent cooling (but not by much). As a result, it actually has a higher cinebench r15 result than the HP despite being a slower CPU
- faster graphics...sort of. I didnt play games on it, but it did give a higher passmark for 3d and 2d.
- more ports, like gigabit ethernet.
- lighter and thinner. The HP feels like its from a few years back when you touch the two
- much much easier to open and upgrade
- none of this roulette nonsense with hoping you get an i5 vs an i3
- you get more RAM and SSD out of the box. In fact, this machine needs NOTHING out of the box if you want a decent experience with basic needs. There is no room for 4 gig machines in 2020.
Essentially, for me at least, its design vs function, or heart vs head?. The HP feels like a better machine to use everyday because of its screen and keyboard, but the Motile is everything an SD user would like more...chassis, upgradability, ports, cooling design.
