One additional note: even though the electrostatics say they come with an amplifier, it's actually just an energizer (electrostatics require a much higher voltage than you can get out of a regular headphone jack). They will still benefit from a better external amplifier.

There were likely a limited number of open box electrostatics; I checked Monoprice's open box section soon after I saw that post, and there were none left.
