Getting ready for 25 comments asking if this has a second RAM slot...

I will save you all the hassle, it does NOT have a second slot for RAM. RAM is single channel/slot only.

Okay, I was finally able to get this BIOS update to work. It seems like if I waited a few minutes before doing the update it worked. I was trying to do the update too soon after booting up?

I'm at BIOS N.106 11/27/2019 now
Probably. I suggested this a few posts back. Close everything first and wait for your machine to "settle down" before accepting the BIOS update.

This happened to me once in Windows. I updated to Windows 1909 and so far it's been rock solid.

Interesting that the above claims there are wake-up bugs in Windows and some people have been complaining about that here I think.
Thanks. I just updated to 1909. I will keep an eye on things and see if I encounter any issues.

Any suggestions of where I can go to find a tutorial on how to upgrade the RAM? Would it be good to upgrade to 16 instead of 8?

Got mine last week overall I like it. Probably would have gone for the R5 at $300, but wasn't looking to get a laptop at that time. Will upgrade stuff if I keep it being the reason. I did have one issue where I left it overnight and it seemed the screen didn't come on in the morning. I did all windows updates Thurs. And Fri morning is when the screen didn't come on. Since I have manually hit the power button to put it to sleep rather than let it auto sleep on its own. Haven't had it happen since. I did get the prompt to update bios after doing the hard reboot and it didn't work. I read comments here to let it settle down first, but I'm holding off as some have reported issues with the update.
Wondering if there is a way to reverse the 2 finger scrolling, I have a logitech wireless keyboard with track pad, on a PC and it seems to scroll the opposite way. Hoping I can change it on the motile, went to mouse setting but didn't see a opt.
Thanks,

whenever I click on Bios Update pop-up.. (with no other apps open), A few windows open then close.. then nothing happens, my computer doesn't restart or anything. When I restart it, the popup to update the BIOS comes back again.

Any thoughts on how to properly update the bios?

EDIT: I finally figured it out.. I let it settle for 10 minutes after restarting.. now its working correctly. Thanks

I know it's not the slick 199.99$ price, but it's currently 249.99$ instead of the 279$ if anyone wants to jump on it.. I've been looking 5-6 times a day hoping for the Ryzen 5 to go back to 299.99$.

Be patient, it'll come back or something better will come along.

Does this have an audio combo port or is it just headphone port? I'm seeing conflicting information. Walmart specs say headphone port but almost all deal sites say combo port. I want to know if I can plug a microphone into it.

Hello all : Need your Advice ASAP !

I ordered the R3 model on 1/29 for $199 and got it on 2/4.
I only updated the memory to 8GB Crucial CT8GSFD824A. C16FBD1 DDR4-2400 and still have the original SSD in it.

The laptop has been quite good but it kept giving me the message at startup to update the firmware saying :
"The AFUWINx64 update utility will re-flash the main BIOS, NVRAM and non-critical blocks to address issues with wake-from-sleep on certain Motile systems. The system will restart once complete. Press the Update button to continue or press Exit."

So after avoiding it many times, I finally gave in and clicked on Update.
The Update seemed to go well - it opened an window and showed steps and got stuck in one step :

AMI Firmware Update Utility V5.11.06.1854
Current BIOS version : 1.03 Update BIOS version : 1.06
Reading Flash.....done
Seccure Flash enabled, recalculate ROM size with signature... Enable.
- FFS checksums ... ok
- check ROMLayout ... ok
Loading capsule to secure memory buffer ... done
Earsing Boot Block..... done
Updating Boot Block ... done
Verifying Boot Block ... done
Erasing Main Block ... done
Updating Main Block ... done
Verifying Main Block ... done
Erasing NVRAM Block ... done
Updating NVRAM Block ... done
Verifying NVRAM Block ... done
Erasing NCB Block ... 0x0012A000 (28%)

and it was stuck there for over 20 mins - so I was forced to hit control-c and the update window closed
and BIOS (in System Info was still 1.03) as the system was not restarted but all looked ok.
But when I restarted the system, the power button shows LED and if I press DEL key the keyboard backlights come on but there is nothing coming on the screen and it looks quite dead.

Any ideas what I can do to fix this or other options?
What is the return policy on this ? Is it 14 days or 30 days ?
The day count starts the day you order or the day you pick it up ?

Can I order another one and return this with that receipt or do they track serial # ?
(I did not get any paper receipt for my pickup and the email confirming pickup has no serial#)

Please help ! I really liked the laptop and had no other issues before this.
My preference is to buy another and return this but price now is higher ($249).

Man, that stinks. BIOS and firmware updates are usually done with failsafes in mind. I know from experience. But if it fails at the stage that is not recoverable, an RMA might be the only option.

Shot in the dark here. My Ryzen 5 version has been working great and I love it. Recently this message pops up once I boot to Windows. Anyone know what it is? I don't seem to see any difference in how it is operating....

Check startup/boot activities.
