Same price it was 2 weeks ago. Seems like this deal keeps coming around. That was on Amazon.

I used a gift card to order and my local store called and cancelled my order. Haven't received a refund yet.

Lowe's wont refund to the original gift card, they mail you a new one. Most of the time they don't mail you a new one until you call them, in my experience.

is this worth it? The 30/31 piece kit is 10~11 and in stock as well. Seems like all the extra are just a bunch of philips bits?

Saw it 14.98 as well. It was 19.98 about 2 weeks ago.
I was tempted to get one until I found out 20 pcs in the set are 1" PH2 so I picked another Bosch 40 pcs bit set.

Given the 50-pcs set has 20x PH2 bits. Just go with 31-pcs set for better utilization and save $5.

I think I'm with you on that. so many philips bits. Who really goes through that many of them especially if they are supposedly stronger impact bits?

If they are DeWalt bits you will. 😉

Stronger is relative. Impact bits don't necessarily outperform regular bits. It depends on what you're using it for. For regular bit driving (aka drywall), the impact bits will likely not last as long. So yeah, you'll need more of them. I kept finding this to be true with the impact bits I bought and went back to regular bits. You can read some supposed experts below and their testing methods. The short of the below is the slightly softer metal of impact bits deforms quicker, leading to more cam outs, which leads to replacing bits. The truth is that it's easier to sell a 40-50 piece kit to the average consumer for a few bucks more if they can justify the price with the words 'impact' somewhere on it.

The PH2 bits have been OK so far, but the 1/4" hex did piss me off. It didn't make it much past 100 screws (2.5" #9 screws for joist hangers) before it stripped out and they only broached it for the depth of a screw head, so I couldn't even grind it deeper and keep going.

Luckily, each box of screws came with a 1/4" bit but it wasn't magnetic like the Dewalt. *rage*

This appears to use the older case and not the new toughcase+ (which connect together and are easier to remove the bits).

Even worst. You will get merchandise card that you can use only in store and it takes 1 month or so to receive in mail. Don't know how they get away with it.
